Reward Flight Cancellation terms

Hi all,

Can anybody advise wether you have the taxes refunded if you cancel reward flights well in advance?
I'm aware that you receive a refund of all miles but couldn't see anything about the taxes.

for uk reward flights, if you cancel the charge is 30 pounds per person, the rest of the money you get back plus your points, this applies until 24 hours before departure

we had to cancel last year due to a medical issue, VS even waived the 30 pounds
