Also note that as of last week the Escape lounge now takes children of any age, previously the minimum age was 6. Holiday Extras will still tell you otherwise though but the Manchester airport website has been updated. £21 for a kid is a bit steep though.

I'm due to fly UC to Atlanta early in March,

As the lounge is closed, what can expect by way of 'a voucher to use at a selection of restaurants and bars in the terminal" ? i'm guessing it's not going to stretch very far?

Given the lounge is still closed does anyone have any insight into what "a voucher to use at a selection of restaurants and bars in the terminal." might stretch to?

It was discussed here

but no real detail about what vouchers are offered. Also a lack of trip reports from Manchester this year.

I passed through last Friday and the V-room was offered to Flying Club Gold members. The voucher value was for £20 each to be used at the various outlets in T2 for others.

10 weeks from 10th Jan is 24th April. We fly back to USA on VS109 on 26th.

The Swissport page advises:

"Due to the temporary closure of the Escape Lounge in Terminal 2 for refurbishment it is anticipated that this lounge will see an increase in the number of guests until 18APR16; for this reason access may be restricted due to space constraints, and in particular between the hours of 05:00 - 11:00 daily and during the Easter period."

Anyone have a firm(er) re-open date?

If the date slips, and we have to use the Swissport Lounge, how is this?

Or will we be allowed into the V-Room as I'd imagine demand from families heading out would be light as schools would be back in session only a few weeks after Easter.

AU and flying UC BTW! :D

Cheers.

I'm flying out to MCO on the 5th April and the first I knew of the closure was on here. I have real problems with this as my mother is a total lounge lover, she sees it as kicking off the holiday to relax- so I phoned VA.

The guy I got was pretty unhelpful to be fair, but I don't know if it's just cause I was unhappy with the outcome that I feel that way.

He said it's not their lounge, it's the airport's lounge so basically, tough. Thats who they have the agreement with. He said if I wanted a lounge specifically I could pay for one (to which I said why can't VA broker an agreement with the airport to use another paid lounge cause I've paid for it as part of my ticket and it was enough money to pay to start with) but that they would provide airport vouchers for bars and restaurants (but couldn't give me an amount :-O ).

I asked about use of the V-room but he said that it is specifically for Virgin Holidays customers and they are totally separate to them ('totally'...) so no I wouldn't be able to use the V-room instead, but if I wanted to phone and see if I could pay for the use of the room I could.

Pretty rubbish really, I always enjoy a good jaunt in the lounge as part of the UC experience and he didn't seem to care at all :(. His attitude was basically if you want a lounge pay for a lounge elsewhere but we're releasing all liability (which I'm pretty sure a lounge is part of my flight package... Hmm)

First availability via online booking system was 11:30am on the 28th.

Not sure if this means anything related to re-opening but I plan on calling tomorrow to see what's what.

Will advise.

David - hope to see you somewhere along the way!

Apparently the standard price following refurb, per the Man Airport site, is £21 plus £7.95pp if you want a full English.

From our 2011 dire Escape experience we never used the lounge again, preferring to check-in 75 mins before our flight and head straight to the gate. We had complimentary entry in November when we flew Upper but even that wouldn't have enticed us. Be interested to see reviews following the refurb as we'll be flying Upper this November and may venture in.
