Hi looking for some info please (if possible)

I am hoping to fly to Orlando again in March 2017. Absolutely no upgrade fares showing and having spoken to Flying club they confirmed just Economy available with miles.

I am now thinking of flying into Atlanta and then onwards to MCO with Delta. It would seem that booking a UC fare LHR-ATL with miles is the cheapest option. The x fare I was quoted and then upgrading with miles works out much more this year because of the extra miles needed to upgrade.

They told me they can arrange the Delta flights on the same confirmation number which is good in case a delay occurs but I forgot to ask about the luggage charges on Delta, currently $25 per bag.

Does anyone know if this still applies if using Delta as a connecting flight . I know our bags will have to be collected and then rechecked at Atlanta on the outbound but at MCO they can be ticketed straight thru to LHR.

I cannot seem to find any info on the VS website re the Delta baggage policy. Thanks

I don't know what they are playing at with MCO rewards next March.
Some time in April the calendar for next march just went to 'No reward flights in March'
We had already booked our flight out in Feb and have ended up flying back from Atlanta in March.
Having said that, I do have a theory. Our flight out was VS15 which has now been cancelled and we have been moved to VS27 so perhaps while they were sorting out scheduling they decided not to offer rewards for that period.
We will be driving there, but we're staying in South Carolina so it's actually closer.
Full reward flights certainly seem the way to go now they have upped the cost of upgrades.

Best of luck,

Thanks for that info :-)

Having been reading TR about flights and conditions out of Gatwick recently, I am really glad I have decided to opt for flying LHR into Atlanta with connection onto MCO. Also the way departures at MCO has been descibed recently, has me seriously thinking of using Tampa to Atlanta.

V-flyers have talked about the security 'scrum' and how long it takes to get through.
Also the gate scrum chaos at MCO has to be experienced to be believed.
On my last visit a few years back, it was honestly impossible to get thru the hoards of people standing blocking the priority lines. We were in UC but could not get past to board the plane, I was physically shoved as I politely requested to get past >-(
It probably isn't just an issue associated with VS at Orlando but boarding the aircraft at Fort Myers or Tampa has never been a problem.

The general rule is that the rules of the airline with the longest part of your trip (which has to be on one ticket) apply.

That's one of the small advantages when visiting the Delta lounge in Orlando, a Virgin Rep comes and collects the upper passengers and escorts them to the gate (through the queues :-) )
