In short, it's not fun. I attempted this route (connecting through BOS and ATL in an attempt to earn more tier points) and its just tiring.
It's not like with DTW or ATL where everything is connected together and you can access all terminals easily from once you pass through customs/immigration again. Heading out to Boston you have to go through customs/immigration at terminal E, then exit and turn left and walk past the bag drop with luggage (as DL doesn't have one there) then up to the parking garage (just walk straight on past all the cars and all the way across to A) to the DL desk to drop off bags and through security again.
On the return your baggage is tagged through but you still have to walk back the same way and then go to the VS desk to show them your baggage tags (i wasn't sure if this was absolutely necessary but i did it anyway) and go through security again and onto the clubhouse.
It's probably a 15/20 minute walk between terminals. No buses/trains between.
