I'm flying to Boston from LHR or BHX in September and i'm holding off from booking as prices are so high, my fallback will be Aer Lingus.
Does anyone know, if there is a likelihood of a VA or BA sale before September as an alternative to AL? Many thanks.

In all likely hood there will be sales by various airlines including EI (the code for Aer Lingus to avoid confusion)

What no one can state with any certainty is that a sale will include a particular route, date or cabin.

Usually the next big 'world sale' will be just before August BH but my guess is both VS & BA will have a mini sale which will probably offer very little in real terms!!!!

Often fares increase significanlty a few weeks before a 'sale', so they can then offer reduced fares in the sale which are actually now at the same price they were before the hike - cynical but true in most cases!

I would challenge your statement about BA becoming the DFS of the airline world, as Aer Lingus already have that status as far as I am concerned. Not only does one sale start as soon as another one finishes but they frequently overlap! DFS could learn a lot from them. :D

To get back to the topic in hand, Aer Lingus's business product isn't at all bad and to my mind is far superior to anything BA can offer in Business. Their Club World seats are dire and to be avoided at all costs.

EI's Business offering is good, especially now they have introduced flat beds in their Business cabin and the fact that you get Pre-Clearance in Dublin Airport is certainly a bonus on arrival in the USA.

Check out my trip reports for flights to and from SFO, JFK and ORD in the Other Trip Reports forum.

Just had the email announcing a BA sale again running until 12th July - a VS 'silent' sale to price match already seems to be in effect on some routes.

I would have to disagree 100%! Having flown CW for the first time last week back from MIA, it was the best night sleep I have ever had on a plane, the seat was far far far more comfortable for me compared to UC and I had lots more personal room. Step over is not ideal, granted, but possible to pick certain seats that don't have this issue (Exit row on UD of 747 for example)

Not that I think UC is bad compared to Club World, they are too different to compare really.
