Just returned from Atlanta on G-VRED in UC. To put it nicely the aircraft was showing its age. IFE was very poor, no wifi, very limited storage space, no center overhead bins... Maybe good 20 years ago but by today's standards for business class very, very poor. Have just done a fast track status match from Delta but am now having second thoughts. Is this just an aircraft type to be avoided?

Some of the 346 s have had a mini refresh recently , not sure if this is one of them though .
Unfortunately the IFE is dated and the picture not great.
They are slowly being phased out so won't be around in the long term

The LGW/MAN fleet of 747's all had an - admittedly - well needed refit about 5 years ago. The cabins & IFE were all refitted - the LGW/MAN fleet was for once better than the LHR fleet.

Obviously things have changed since then, now whilst the LGW/MAN fleet may seem old, they are in fairly good nick for their age.

LGW 747's are still in Excellent condition, albeit the odd technical glitch.
Have travelled may times in the UC cabin and will be sorry to see them go as in my experience the space and quality are unrivalled.
Flying to UC to MBJ in January on the 747 and ANU on the 330 in May so will be interesting to see the difference.
At this point it seems the UCDS may be updated on the 330 by June.
