Have called up & booked a flight this afternoon LHR-NYC and subsequently received all the paperwork... Gone to expert flyer for load check & to try and guess at G class availability (none available for return flight at time of booking) to see the return flight has allegedly been cancelled. Have tried a second "dummy" booking on VS website with same flight details to be given a "we're having problems processing your booking" message, and yet MMB doesn't show anything odd.

So... The IT hamster clock has started, how long to give them before I call up and flag my query (flight is in approx 6 weeks). I'm not too bothered about changing flights, but it'll be an interesting real-time experiment if it has indeed been cancelled!

Can you post the dates and flight times / numbers to see if we can replicate this?

Potentially cancelled flight in question is VS46 on October 5th. The 45 (787-900) outbound is still showing as running. Would VS really leave a Dreamliner sat around at JFK for 24 hours?

I'm getting the same too. Maybe gove it a couple of days and try again?

It's possible they have cancelled another outbound and so the 787 will change to operate that rather than as the 46?

I know the 45/46 and 111/112 often switch around aircraft at JFK so haven't checked but maybe the 111 isn't operating outbound whilst the 789 operating the 45 outbound will operate the 112 on the return if the 46 is now cancelled. Just a thought.

It's quite possible that the aircraft used for the VS45 could be deployed as a charter from the US - perhaps to bring the European team back from the Ryder Cup even though that finishes on October 2nd.

Mini update: MMB updated with a change into the 112. No seat maps available to select seats though, so maybe they're tinkering & playing the "pick an aircraft" game. Only slight irritation is the 112 was actually the cheaper flight at time of booking than the 46 but I wanted to get home sooner. Hey ho, find a price you're willing to pay and never look back etc!
