Hi Guys

Its been a while since I'd flown VS until I flew VS250 a few weeks ago (getting round to posting my first trip report). I just had a couple of questions with various aspects of VS and wondered if anyone could answer them.

Firstly do the 2 Class A330 exist anymore I was convinced I once flew ORL-MAN on G-VSXY in PE and was sat directly behind the pilot but looking at the seat plan it would appear I'm somewhat wrong.

Secondly I have just booked DXB-LHR in UC ( just for people to know many fares in PE are currently cheaper than Economy and upgradable to UC using miles). Just wondering what DXB airport is like and what lounge is on offer ? And then what is the A330 UC cabin actually like. Have I been spoiled flying in the 787? Will it affect my enjoyment of UC?

Thanks in advance

All the A330s now have UC cabins. But you're right, some of them started out without UC (I believe because the new "Dream Suite" hadn't yet been cleared for use by the CAA).

UC on the A330 is, unfortunately, VS's Achilles heel. The main problem is the cabin is very cramped as they decided to cram 4 seats in each row. The good news is the cabins are due to be reconfigured to the 1-1-1 layout you've already experienced on the Dreamliner, starting in the next few weeks I believe, so depending on when your flight is you might get lucky.

Either way if you select an 'A' seat towards the front you'll be fine whichever config you get.

To add to what Gumshoe has already said, since the begininng of the year VS have been using the Marhaba Lounge in the new Airside part of Terminal 1 at DXB.

Although a multi use Lounge (open to passengers with Priority Pass etc), when we used it in March, we were met at the door by a memebr of VS Ground Crew and escorted to a separate First Class Section of the Lounge where there was both buffet options and table service provided - a vast improvement of the previous facilities. From what i have heard it is a far better place that the BA Lounge opposite.

If they change a plane to 1-1-1 then presumably seat numbers will be reduced.
Do they plan far enough ahead that passengers aren't bumped down?
Or is there a chance I'll loose my reward seat coming home in March from ATL? especially as I'm now Red status.

I believe there'll only be about two fewer seats than at present so you should be fine.

You may be able to tell whether your plane's due to be old or new layout as other V-Flyers have reported that the seat maps in MMB have had all the 'D' seats blocked out if it's scheduled to be a refitted A330.

Thank you for that. I have just checked and Row D still looks available but I guess that could change in 195 days.

We flew in what were then the new A330s when they were 2 class. It made a very nice PE cabin.
