Good.

I have always thought it was inherently unfair that some people got to fly part of their luggage for free just because it was sports equipment

Car seats/prams still carried for free.

I've only taken clubs with me once and I might do so again next year. I don't mind it coming out of my luggage allowance but it's just another example of something that used to be complimentary with Virgin that's now been cut back.

It does seem a cut for very little benefit, and one that has been useful to many over the years (I took a bicycle to California once!).

It was unfair as in if I wanted to take equipment for a hobby, I'd have to pay extra. No free allowance to take camera equipment, a drone etc.

For some of us our hobby is shopping yet I wouldn't get a free bag for that!

more cuts
they taking away unique things that may be selling a point.
Now there is no advantage to pick V over another airline.
I Snowboard & its difficult enough to take all your gear.
Its actually not worthwhile buying your own stuff as its cheaper to rent.
However, I have a disability and need adapted bindings, so I have no choice.

Give you an idea - my 2x boards (always take a spare) weigh 15kg alone. That is without base layers, mid layers, socks, boots, bindings, helmet, jacket & pants!
It cant be done in 23kg & thats snowboard gear only!

BA on the otherhand, I have worked out with their generous carry-on luggage I can put my snowboard gear in the hold & the rest in my hand luggage - though I will prob have to wear my helmet on the plane!

This is going to be an interesting one for me. The change came in on 31st August and I normally take an extra case with dive gear in it. I made a booking on 30th August but used some Virgin vouchers and due to a c*ck up at Virgin's end (mis-informed) they didn't finalise the booking until 7th September when I finally got the e-ticket. I need to get confirmation I can still take my extra bag for free.

I know, which means due to VS customer services messing up (which I was given 7k FC miles for) I will lose out on a free bag of sports gear. I have emailed them back and asked for confirmation - would rather have the response in writing!

I am currently undecided if I will take my dive gear this time, so it would be good to know if I will need to pay for it if I do. If I was in PE or UC it wouldn't be an issue, but I am down the back for this trip!
