Hi Guys
I did the virgin trains bonus miles promotion last month and I have just had the points for the transaction added to mine and sons accounts ... however there is no sign of the bonus miles, its just showing the normal miles I would have gotten ?

has anyone else had this problem ?

Thanks

Mine appeared on the day of the rail journey (although conversely I haven't yet received the normal miles).

Did you definitely book a Virgin Trains West Coast (VTWC) ticket on the VTWC website or a Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) ticket on the VTEC website? If you booked a VTWC journey on the VTEC site or vice versa I don't think it qualifies.

So for all our info I've backtaxied over the detail of this one:

As may some others, I found out about the offer on Head for Points
http://www.headforpoints.com/2016/07/09/502-virgin-miles-for-1-50/.

It seems some people might have fallen into the trap of booking a west coast service on east coast's website or vice versa which was easy to do on the Edinburgh to Haymarket route suggested. I did it in a hurry that day on the VTEC site as I had no intention of travelling and wanted the cheapest fare, but, I realised that the EC services were thumbnailed and selecting them brought up an indication of miles to be earnt etc. I checked my FC account and the base miles

I booked on 8th July for a Haymarket-Waverley journey on 13th July. 500 bonus miles duly appeared on the 13th.

As @HokeyPokey says it is very easy, on that particular journey, to get confused between the two Virgin Trains companies. Haymarket-Waverley is the only route on which they both operate and to those unfamiliar with the peculiarities of our rail network it's not always obvious which VT you've booked on.

That, I fear, will have caught out quite a few people who booked after reading HFP.

The complications of which journies earned me miles and which didn't made me book everything via First Great western and credit to Nectar!

No miles for me yet either. My ticket was on 26th july. I definitely booked the correct train. If I go to the booking in east coast - my account, I have a sticker that says

virgin atlantic flying club - you collected 2 miles!

Neither those 2 miles, nor the bonus have made it to my flying club account yet.

Jedimum - sounds like a "West Coast" (ie Virgin Trains rather than the separate franchise Virgin Trains East Coast ) service booked on the Virgin Trains "West Coast" website and as you've got the base miles already no reason the bonus shouldn't show up. For some reason they want to keep us guessing as to when before the end of August it will appear...

You can actually book any train from any operator (I book all my trips via Great Western Trains) but in the case of these offers you need to have booked with the particular company AND be on one of their trains.

Despite sharing the 'Virgin' in their names East and West Coast are totally different companies with different ownership - Virgin Group holds only 10% of shares in East Coast but 51% in West with Stagecoach owing the remainder

I signed my wife and I up for this offer and only received the miles for the tickets haven't got the bonus. I've started chasing it up with flying club already as I think there is little chance it will land today or tomorrow.

They are from two different accounts so sent two emails to flying club including copies of the original booking. My wife got an email saying she would need to contact virgin east coat giving her the contact details. Emailed them back to tell them I had supplied them all the details and would have expected them to do this rather than tell me to do it. Which they then did. Then got an email from eastcoast trains asking me for the offer details as they don't have the details of the offer in support. I haven't got the email so told them the basics so wait to see what happens.

I got an email back asking to supply the offer details. Again they got the basics haven't heard back yet.

To be honest every time I've used the [email protected] I come away feeling they give you the quickest answer to fob you off, usually cut and pasted from some corprate blurb even if it's totally irrelivent to your question. Usually they do get there in the end after a few email exchanges but always feel it's not good service !

Got the miles from the train journey Ok. No trace of the 500 bonus on either my wife's or my account.

What train did you book, and on which website?

After chasing flying club, see my post above, my 500 miles have been credited by flying club my wife is now waiting for virgin east coast "web supervisor" to investigate :-) Two exact same queries handled in two different ways ! Still moving in the right direction.

If anyone hasn't got their miles I would just email flying club.

Booked a virgin east coast train on the virgin east coast website. I know it was done correctly as I got the base miles credited to flying club just fine. Its the 500 bonus ones that are not there.
