We're booked on VS045 on the 21st Nov which is showing as an A340 on VS's seat map. Having not flown one before, is there anything to look out for in UC? Any choice seats? I believe these have the older IFE (unless I'm working off old info?)
there are dozens of threads about the A340 so please do a search for those.
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
Generally go for 1-8A or 9-16K since the seats are more private, some avoid those near the bar or 2K near the tront loo. Yes its older IFE unfortunately but the 346 is a lovely ride and the cabin detailing much nicer than any other plane especially those that have been cleaned up a little recently.
But do, as Tonty says, look at trip reports and the seat ratings for much more!

There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

Erm Slinky, isn't it the other way round? Isn't it 1-8K and 9-16A which are the more private ones facing the wall?

Thanks! I couldn't see a way to search by aircraft in the TRs? Unless I'm being blind!

There isn't, but there are alternatives;
1. The Seat Ratings function is driven by aircraft type and links to the TRs (as I guess you've found out by now)
2. A search for A340 in the Search function reveals 100+ pages of comments about the aircraft. Many of these are TR's, but there are also a good chunk of comments related to the aircraft hosted in discussions that are not TR based.
Hope this helps.
We can get better, because we're not dead yet
Thanks for that. Some useful info out there. Nabbed 4 and 5 K so should give us a little privacy. Now to book DTCI....
