Moving from PE to UC

Hi just need a bit of advice. Next year I'm flying MAN to MCO then MCO to MAN but via Atlanta on a PE booking. I've called today as I want to upgrade to UC both ways but I have been told this cannot be done and I can only upgrade the outgoing leg but they cannot do the return via Atlanta as it involves a Delta flight which I know is Economy class. Can anybody confirm if this is correct or if they have been able to sort anything out to upgrade both ways on past experience . I can't understand why they cannot do a straight cash upgrade? Thank you

Don't know I'm afraid but in these circumstances it's worth calling again and seeing if you get a different answer from another agent.

If all else fails you can ask to upgrade at the airport. There's a set price for on-the-day upgrades - subject to availability - which may even work out cheaper.

I have Virgin & delta flights booked on a single booking reference, from London to Key West via Atlanta. The VS flights are Upper Class and paid with miles, the Delta flights were economy paid with cash. A few months after booking I called Virgin and paid some more cash to upgrade the DL flights to First. So yes, they should be able to accommodate your request.
