Hello all,

I currently have enough miles, as it currently stands for a UC reward flight. I intend to use these towards the end of 2017 (Oct). Where would you suggest flying to? I have personally been thinking of Canada although I am looking for suggestions on a) Great location b) maximising the use of the miles.

Also, do you earn tier points on reward flights?

Thanks in advance!

no you don't earn TPs on reward flights (or miles for that matter)

As you your other question how can any one advise about a 'great location' when you don't give any clues about what short of holiday you are after or what interests you.

Also you don't say how many miles you have so some VS locations may already be out of reach.

Hey Tonty,

At present, I have just over 60,00 miles. I am more of a city breaks kind of traveller and do enjoy my luxuries. Places visited already include; East Coast Australia, Florida, Jamaica, Las Vegas, San Fran, New York and I have Boston in May 17. As you can see, I like visiting North America.

I have considered; Toronto, Chicago and Hong Kong, with Toronto in the lead at present. This is purely down to being a Country I have never visited.

I apologise for my lack of detail previously.

VS don't fly to Toronto but I have heard that Chicago is great, and indeed I am flying there in April.

60,000 miles isn't going to get you a return UC flight to the states.
How fast are you earning miles.
Even an upgrade from economy to Upper to New York is now 35,000 each way
Personally I don't think an upgrade is a good use of miles any more.
I ask about the earning rate because I tend to book early in order to bag the first UC reward seats that come on offer, but I fly out of Gatwick so there are less UC seats available.
If you are booking nearer to your flight date it may be worth looking at flights with more reward seats and be flexible, then plan your holiday around it.
October, also consider the possibility of bad weather in southern US states.
Best of luck.

I know it doesn't help you with your reward flights but Toronto is fantastic, was there a fortnight ago

Thank you all for the comments.

I shall look into Chicago for next year and see how it works with using my rewards. I have an economy to premium upgrade as well being a VA Black card holder.

It's all new to me, so thanks again.
