Am shortly booking a trip to Mexico and prices for both Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy and Thomsons Premium Club are almost the same. Its been a few years since flying with Virgin so i would like to hear peoples views on the benefits you get with both and which would be a better experience? Virgin would be on a 747-400 from LGW and Thomsons on their Dreamliner.

We did Thomson on the 767 to Cancun a few years in their "premium" cabin, and to be honest it was quite similar to PE; bigger seat, more legroom and so on. It was a pretty good flight as I recall.

I wouldn't have thought that - given the competition - there would be many differences between the two nowadays either. The 787 will give you a quieter flight if that is important to you.

I Have flown VSPE a few times and Thomson 'premium' once.
Notwithstanding the fact that we were stranded with Thomson in the Dominican Republic for 30 hours due to an unserviceable aircraft on the return flight I would say that their product is OK. The 787's are nice but difficult do compare directly with the 747/330
We did find the Thomson flight crew rather unfriendly and not very jolly.

If I had the choice for similar £££ I would go with VS

A few details to keep in mind though ...
In Gatwick at least, Thomson is now offering Premium security and access to No1 Lounge included in the price, something that you don't have with Virgin.
In terms of seat, Virgin have 38 inches legroom and 21 inches width against 36 and 18 for Thomson.
Food is pretty much on par as you get sparkling wine as a welcome on both and the offerings are very similar for the rest.
I've flown on both and liked them both but my preference will always go to Virgin, mostly for the seat.
