i am flying dub-man, man-mco, mco-lgw, lgw-dub next month, as i normally fly from belfast and overnight in lgw and then on mco as seperate bookings, my question is as i am booked through in business (including the leg back to dub) will i be entitled to clubhouse access at lgw on my arrival from mco as i have a few hours stopover. just to clarify a few points, as i mentioned already the entire trip is one booking, the to-from dublin flights are confirmed as 'business' on my fc account it also confirms uc status. i will be interested to see how this works out as this is the first time i have used this route, i did go to the clubhouse on my return to lgw from a mco flight in upper in march and asked could i get breakfast while i waited for my flight to belfast, the staff did allow me to enter after confirming i was an incoming uc passenger, i think i was allowed entry as a curtesy and because the lady at the desk remembered me from previous flights and it was fairly quiet.

If you're not flying on a VS flight ex LGW I would have expected that you wouldn't be allowed to use the CH?

Which airline is your LGW-DUB with?

If you are in business class with them then surely you would go to their lounge?

I think being admitted on your last trip was an error.

Is there even an airline that flies LGW-DUB with a business class cabin? The only two airlines i can think of that operate the route are Aer Lingus and Ryanair?

Another post to say you were very lucky being allowed to use the Clubhouse previously.

I did an ex-dub flight in May (flying back into LHR) but on both the Aer Lingus parts I did't have lounge access through the ticket (did have through PP). The only "business" part of the ticket was the upper luggage allowance. Even the miles awarded were very poor, but for the price I'd paid, I was more than happy.

Technically the Clubhouse is for departing VS passengers only. It may be that you strike it lucky again and they let you in as a goodwill gesture but it's certainly not guaranteed.

If it's a "no" there's always the No.1 Lounge (free with Priority Pass or similar, otherwise pay to enter) which is a very decent lounge.

Please could you let us what other airlines you are flying with as I could not find a business class seat from Gatwick to Dublin

I suspect that the OP has been booked on Aer Lingus on the DUB-LGW route as Ryanair don't do connections, and that he has been booked in the flex-fare bucket which gives many of the perks of a business class ticket.

return to dub is aer lingus and as previously mentioned the only thing 'business' about it is a silly curtain for the first several rows and luggage allowance and free snacks / drinks.

Check beforehand what virgin flights are scheduled to leave as that will give you an idea as to the potential capacity. I have had many friends and family members booked in PE and refused entry to the clubhouse because it was full. In most instances they were travelling on Sunday morning when lots of flights were due to leave also. However, a work colleague said she got entry when travelling to SFO recently and said the lounge cost her £60 and was very quiet. No.1 is an option but I find it is better early morning or late afternoon when most flights have left. The food isn't very exciting but its a nice place to relax and have a few drinks before your flight. However, if you turn up at No.1 during late morning to early afternoon and you could be in for a shock and nowhere to sit.

To be allowed entry because the staff member remembered you is extremely lucky but I would say very rare.

Aer Lingus do not offer a business service on the LGW-DUB route. There is no curtain (silly or otherwise) for the first few rows, nor is there a separate luggage allowance or free snacks. All food and beverages are buy on board.

One of the points about the OP's situation is that they are looking to get access when not on a VS flight.

sorry to sound slightly pedantic but i can assure you there was a 'silly curtain' which just obscured the back of the seat and not the aisle, snacks and drinks aboard were FREE , and my upper class baggage allowance was observed by the are lingus leg (three 20 odd kilo bags thanks to her in doors shopping at the melenia mall)

you won't actually find a 'business class seat' as such on said route, but if you book connection through from your long haul flight through lgw/lhr first/upper as i did you will get business seat perks without the business seat lol

I have an Aer Lingus flight to Gatwick connecting with Upper Class Virgin and the EI baggage allowance shows as 63kg per pax which must be 3 x 21kg. The VS allowance is 3 x 32kg

You are not being pedantic - you are being wrong! There is not, nor has been a curtain nor free snacks and drinks on Aer Lingus's UK and European routes for some time. If you got free snacks and drinks it was because of a glitch in the service somewhere along the line. I fly Aer Lingus regularly, the last time being yesterday and the service was as I described. The free bags was because you got the luggage allowance for your long haul flight.

The only aircraft in the EI fleet that have the curtain between cabins are the transatlantic A330 planes which use a full business class cabin.
