Or - just using new planes with lower capacity than the ones they are replacing in the fleet. (But admittedly, an extra LHR slot pair in use, so not a cheap option by any means).

I can see a real problem happening on the MCO route in a few years when the 747's get retired. The likely replacements will be 100 seats short of what the 747 can take - will be fine in low-season but at the height of the school holidays when Virgin can fill 5 or 6 747's a day to/from MCO with ease... not good.
