I was on that one originally, it was cancelled!

Small ray of hope that VS use Dnata instead. Hopefully the same applies to Delta as I'm on a codeshare

I don't fly enough from LGW to actually pay much attention to this, but from the Swissport website here for ground handling, Swissport is not listed at LGW: http://www.swissport.com/index.php?id=4 ... untryId=72 but this was posted on the swissport site on 13/10/2016: http://www.swissport.com/nc/news-media- ... n-gatwick/ so it looks like there is some transition from Aviator to Swissport happening, but I could not find a date for it. In this article it looks like from November 30 (sorry, DM link!) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... twick.html

But what I have read on other sites suggests that it is now Swissport that has taken over. Let's hope they can sort this out quickly.

Which flight were you put on instead? Never really had to be concerned about these things before as always been fortunate enough to dodge strike with airlines!

I'm flying out later today and back on the night of 24th/25th - LHR to JFK and back.
I am not to worried by industrial action by the pilots as its not a strike.
And if the baggage handlers do go on strike then it may take some days but I am sure my stuff will turn up eventually. But there's every chance the strike will be called off IMHO

Your baggage won't be affected by any Swissport industrial action, Virgin don't use Swissport at Heathrow

I asked to be rebooked into an LHR-ATL instead as I'm actually closer to London than Manchester :) decided on the 12:30 service on Delta to try something new.

This post has appeared on the VS website re: the Pilots and Swissport actions:

Virgin Atlantic Pilot ballot for Action Short of a Strike
We value our pilots enormously and we are disappointed with the result of the ballot to take Action Short of a Strike, which essentially means ‘work to rule’. We are taking actions to ensure our flying programme remains unaffected during this period and want to reassure our customers that all flights are operating as normal.

Industrial Action by UK Swissport Airport workers 23-24 December
We don’t anticipate the planned industrial action by Swissport employees to impact our flights to or from UK airports. We have robust contingency plans in place to ensure our customers reach their destinations with their baggage.
