I had booked a Virgin Holiday package in October for two people, 6 nights at Encore in Las Vegas travelling Monday 23rd Jan and returning on Sunday 29th Jan.
When looking through my MMB on Virgin Atlantic last week, it stated that there had been a Flight Change and I have now been booked to come back on Sat 28th (i.e lose a days holiday) After contacting VH, one of the Flight Change team emailed me to say I can either accept the change (with £139 refund for lost day in resort), request alternative dates etc or receive a full refund.
I requested to stay one more night in resort and fly back on Mon 30th Jan. (I have tickets to the Frampton fight on Saturday so did not want to curtail the break, extra days car hire is ok with me)
They have just emailed me and said, yes that is possible, but they want to charge me £252 for an extra night in the hotel and £160 extra for the flight on the Monday.
Any suggestions on how I should approach this? My thoughts are
1. They were only going to offer me £139 for losing a Saturday night in Vegas - how can they charge nearly double for a Sunday (especially when tagged onto a now 7 night booking)
2. Why should I accept a charge for returning on the same route a day later - and due to their problem?
