Good evening from the Boston Clubhouse - one of the final ones on the network I have not had a chance to visit. Only a handful of people in here so far and already on 3rd glass of Tattinger. Why doesn't Virgin have any consistency in Champagne offer? Im enjoying my Tatt in here only to suffer the champagne offer on board ?!! Most other airlines have a consistent offer throughout - or certainly thats my experience?

Anyway - this is a lovely lounge - great atmosphere, great team working the floor and certainly better than the BA offer down the hallway I experienced last week !! Very impressed !!!

The last excuse I heard about changing champagnes between lounges and in the air was the 'old chestnut' about taste changing between normal conditions on the ground and a pressurised cabin at altitude - the claim being that airlines ran extensive taste tests on their food and had extended those tests to champagne and therefore varied brands between lounge and aircraft. Given that many airlines have now stopped bothering with those taste tests for the food (must hunt for the article about that but can't recall it now, but that was said to be the reason the wrong cut or variety of steak in the air tasted like eating liver on the ground unless you drowned in sauce/gravy of the right flavour to hide the difference) the suspicion has to be that it's like so many other things - if they ever ran taste tests for the bubbly they don't bother any more and simply sacrificed on board brands for cost savings to stay competitive? I guess that might get a response from those far more knowledgeable on the subject than I am!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the lounge bubbly and have a trouble-free flight.

You must be almost home now, so I hope you had a good flight.

Yes home and in taxi after a dreadful flight - actively rude crew and awful FSM - seems to be so much more frequent these days :(

Revivals also had a roof partially collapse so no spa treatment either - a swift reply from the Virgin Twitter team and I'm 40,000 miles richer on my way home.

Sorry to hear about the dreadful flight. What did the crew do?

40K miles is a nice bonus, but that is really sad to read about the damage to revivals.
