So, sick of trudging about in the snow for the last couple of days, decided to have a look at some flights to MCO for a long weekend at the end of the month.

Dates were departing 26th Jan, returning 31st Jan and this is what comes up

26th Jan

NQY to MAN with flybe

OVERNIGHT MAN !!

27th Jan

It doesn't give you any confidence to use their booking engine

I suspect it's more to do with the lack of direct LGW & MAN connections.

Perhaps the LGW flight(s) are fully booked? Probably be easier just to try MAN>MCO direct and use the train possibly?

There are, I believe, no direct flights between LGW>MAN these days and it's been like that for a few years since BA dropped the MAN>LGW>MAN route. Jet2 did briefly try that route but I think they also dropped it as well.

Your only option now is the train (even then there's at least 1 change) or the painful bus transfer connection via LHR now for Northern connections to/from LGW.

LGW really does feel very isolated for Northern travellers now and is the reason why I don't even consider LGW these days.

Yes, if there's no LGW-MCO flight on the 26th - or it's sold out - it's giving you what it thinks is the next best option given that there's no direct LGW-MAN flight!

Do you earn TPs for the Flybe legs lol?

I'm sure I read somewhere that you don't earn any VS TP's on FlyBe connecting flights.

i think as these are only connections for VS longhaul, not 'standalone' routes, there won't be any TP

when i first saw the announcement i'd thought, great, little red is effectively back, albeit as a codeshare, but afaik there's no option to book, say, LHR-EDI on VS, only to use EDI etc. as one end of a longhaul booking

Ah - the perils of the "codeshare" when the computer programming excludes the "common sense" option. It does get you from LGW to MCO using the "Morecambe and Wise" approach - just not necessarily on the same day! Was the price a good one?

Yup, that's exactly what I thought. Wonder why you'd want to go to Newquay on route to Orlando ??? But more interesting is what's the 2nd "aircraft" on the first flight - a legacy 1000

When you google it, all that comes up is a rifle ???

And no, unfortunately, the price was worse than rubbish :-)
