Because my mother is very ill and not going to improve, we have had to cancel our cruise from Fort Lauderdale in April and therefore our reward seats to Miami.

Flying Club were very sympathetic and waived the cancellation fee, which was incredibly decent of them and most unexpected. The miles were returned very quickly, but how long before I can expect the charges to be refunded?

when i had to cancel for similar reasons (and FC kindly waived all fees) the refund took quite a while, though i was a long time chasing it due to personal situation

looking back through old emails, below are the details i had for the refund dept. (these are from a couple of years ago)

bear in mind they can only act once they've been notified by FC

if you don't hear anything after a couple of weeks i'd start with FC, then if things seem to be drifting you could try emailing them direct, make sure you include your original booking reference

Thank you. It doesn't really matter how long it is, I just wondered when I should feel it necessary to chase up. I'll ring in a couple of weeks then.

Sorry to read that you have had to cancel your trip for sad reasons. Pleased VS have stepped up and showed compassion to you under the circumstances.

I think you will have to keep on top of it yourself though as far as the refunded extras are concerned. I see that 'Sungod' gave you an e-mail address, which is very helpful. Telephone conversation can be forgotten or misquoted.

Personally I would confirm the conversation you had with FC agent in an e-mail to 'Refunds' stating what was said and how grateful you are for their gesture (nice to acnkowledge the positives). At least that way you have a 'hard' recording and can refer to it if necessary. Hopefully it won't take long but the way the VS teams operate these days, nothing can be predicted. Take care. Hev

Well all credit to Virgin Atlantic. 10 days after cancelling our reward flights, they have refunded our payments and it is all back on my account.

Well done!
