Ok, this is a tough one - Im flying... :

BA MAN-LGW
VS LGW-MCO
AA MCO-MIA

...all on seperate tickets next week. Its the only option I had to get to Miami for Xmas when booking 7 days in advance with miles! Ive paid for the Ba and AA legs. My question : Can I check in for al 3legs at Manchester? Im inclined to say no, but can BA at the least tag up my bag all the way to MIA. I guess Ill have to pull my bags off at MCO for customs anyway or maybe ill just travel with carry on only - safer. I have the feeling this is going to be a stressfull journey. God I hope there's some decent movies.

Based on past experience you'll need to claim, and then re - check your cases at the point of entry into the U.S.A.

Short answer,no to everything,sorry.

If you were flying BA all the way to MCO then AA from there then I think you could, but you would still need to claim your bags at MCO,get through customs then recheck them.

Right then. I thought as much but I remember coming off a BA flight years ago and seeing someone with a big tag that had a VS flight number and a BA flight number on it - he'd made a transfer at Heathrow.

Your only chance is if BA can check the bags all the way to Orlando.

When I flew to Orlando via Atlanta with Delta last year the bag had a double tag on it ATL/MCO with the ATL being removed in Atlanta. I did however have to claim, and re - check but not check in again if that makes sense.

On the way back the bag gets checked straight from Orlando to Atlanta to Gatwick, and you don't see it again till Gatwick !

In Orlando, you'll need to do Immigration, claim the bags, then Customs. You'll then lose the bags again, whilst you exit via the TSA Security scan.

You'll catch the Monorail to the main terminal where you'll be re - united with your bags at which point you'll need to go back upstairs to the Check In area !

PM if you need any further info on Orlando.
