Hi all

Hoping I can use your experience. I have a flight from LAS to JFK using Delta and JFK to LHR with Virgin metal, all on one ticket and this morning I received an email from Delta saying that my flight times have changed. I now only have 45 minutes between both flights which I don’t believe is enough time, particularly as my mum is coming with us and she’s not that fast!! Please could someone who has experience of JFK confirm my suspicions as previously when I called the flying club they said 45 minutes was enough time. Thank you for any help/advice you can give me

45 minutes is indeed the MCT for a DL domestic to a VS international at JFK so VS staff you spoke to are correct.

I wouldn’t dare risk a 45 minute connection to an international flight at JFK. Although many DL flights use T4, the same terminal as VS, not all do so there’s a chance you’ll have to transfer between terminals. And with VS’s policy of closing the gate 20 minutes before departure you’ve actually got 25 minutes to make the connection if everything’s running to time.

I would call again, press the point that one of your party has limited mobility and ask to be put on an earlier DL flight or a later VS one. Hopefully you’ll get an agent who doesn’t insist on sticking to the rules.

45 mins is going to be very tight.

JFK can be a bit messy for Delta flights as gumshoe mentioned above, they use both T2 and T4 for domestic flights.

My DL flight from BOS to JFK later today lands in T2, however, I’ve had DL flights previously from BOS land in T4 as well.

There doesn’t seem much logic to DL flights and which terminal they use at JFK unfortunately.

Even if your DL flight lands in T4 , it can still be a fare trek between the DL arrival gate and the departing VS gates as T4 is a big terminal. Last time I did this, the gates where at the complete opposite ends of T4. DL arrived at the ‘B’ gates whilst VS departed from the ‘A’ gates close to where the JFK Clubhouse is. I’d say it took me around 20mins to walk between the departure gates.

There are a couple of moving walkways in the ‘B’ side of the terminal and there’s none from what I can remember on the ‘A’ side of the terminal.

As far as I’m aware all VS flights to LHR depart using the ‘A’ gates with the exception of the MAN flight which for some reason seems to always use the ‘B’ departure gates!

Thanks everyone for your help. Spoke to the most fantastic person at Flying Club, who has now put us on the direct flight from LAS to LGW. No more stress
