Hi everyone, long-time flyertalker here but stalked some of you over to this board and it's been an interesting read thus far, there's a lot of passion for Virgin Atlantic on here!

My question is about CH access at LHR. I am DL Gold traveling with my wife in PE. Normally, we'd have access to the No. 1 lounge in LHR which I suppose would be a backup plan, but we'd love to be able to try out the LHR Clubhouse. It seems that they've allowed PE pax off and on over the years to purchase entry, with the most recent figures I saw at around 75 GBP... does anyone have any recent data points on this? Would be willing to splurge as it's our 5 year anniversary and it's our first trip away from the little ones who will be staying with the grandparents... I think it would be exceedingly difficult to find two kind souls willing to guest us in, although if there is one maybe we could pay for the other in a more reliable way (i.e. they might be more willing to allow in a paying guest of an AU or UC flying member than just a pair of PE passengers). Any input would be appreciated.

It would be the evening flight from LHR-JFK so hopefully less crowded? For reference it's VS25 on April 1 at 8:10pm.

Welcome to V-Flyer Superbob!

I would assume there is the option for paid access, as those who have a V-Hols booking can pay for access regardless of status according to the Virgin Holiday website. Whether this paid access is exclusive for V-Hols customers though is another thing that maybe a more frequent flyer can answer. Personally me and my wife did this back in 2013 on our trip to Boston, and at that time the price was £60 however the price now quoted on the V-Hols site is £67, again possibly a reduced rate for their customers if paid access is available for everyone.

If you can paid for access, it is most definitely worthwhile!!!

Yes V Holidays passengers can buy CH access but only if they have bought a package from V Holidays.

As to general paid access it seems it does vary - some days yes others no and I assume it depends on the expected number of eligible visitors on each day.

t was easier to buy access before the partnership with DL and their eventual move to T3 which increased the number of eligible passengers. And that is one reason why DL Golds get sent to the No 1 Lounge.

I've seen mention on here that paid access it restricted to those flying PE but again it depends on their being capacity available on the day. And the CH does get busy in the evening as there are several departing flights to HKG, DXB, DEL and LOS which can be very busy in UC / status flyers.

Thanks for the input, it seems like we'll have to try our luck that day, hopefully the welcome staff are in a good mood from Easter and maybe the business travel might be lighter that day?? Wishful thinking... :D
