I have just discovered (but I hope I'm mistaken) that there is now no such thing as a fare class in PE - no more H, S, W etc. There is only "lowest" and "flexible".

It used to be the case that (say) H would get 50 tier points in the old PE, and S and W would get 100. Now it seems, you can book "lowest" premium and get 50 TP or "flexible" premium and get 100. But, of course, "flexible" premium is a flexible ticket and costs a fortune.

Am I right that TP in the old PE have just been cut by a sneaky loss of higher earning TP fare classes?

Fortunately, you are not right. I used the online chat tool yesterday to ask about TPs and the rep confirm there had been no changes to tier point earning. She also said that she would contact the website team to have the tier-points-per-fare-code readded to the website.

For added peace of mind the miles earning table still lists the Premium fare codes and has S & W listed as Flexible.

Thanks very much for the info!

As a follow up - do you know how I can now book an S class fare? The website (of course) has taken that option away. And if S class really is flexible, then its going to cost a fortune

Sorry to go on...

No worries - I did ask them about the ability to book via fare codes, she didn't seem aware that it had disappeared too. I think the only way you'll be able to do it (at the moment at least) is give them a call... :-(

Though from recent searches of my own an S class is priced the same way as it was previously!

Yeah, the only way to specify the fare bucket now is to call or go through a TA. Even going through a TA is a pain sometimes. I tried to book an S class a few days ago and they were adamant they couldn't as there was only W and H available which was rubbish.

I really don't know why VS keep removing functionality from the website... its silly.
