Makes a lot of sense, with BA now double daily on the route from LHR in summer. The route seems to be able to command the higher yields associated with LHR rather than a more standard B&S route from LGW.

Vegas is moving to LHR

That doesn't leave a lot of routes left at LGW.

Still leaves 9 or so routes though.

So does that mean it will be an LHR plane operating that route or the LGW plane? I would have thought it would be an LGW plane as:
A) about what 14 more pax in the clubhouse making it sill seem tranquil
B) the fleet at LHR is spread very thin with all the routes currently flying out of there+ mechanical issues as well as irrops!

BA flights to LAS are mostly connections through Heathrow, can see why VS would want to try get some of this, especially when trying to tie up closer to AF/KLM

It would be down the back - question is how many of those seats are they selling and at what price? Given BA's capacity on the route and Norwegian about to start the route as well I can see the logic in moving it to LHR.

Coming from the Kingdom of Wales, I'm pretty happy not to have to negotiate the M23/M25 any more

And the added advantage of LHR Sofitel which is always a delight means it's win, win for me :-D

Same here, I’ve even booked already for our next Vegas trip next year on BA because the Heathrow flight was better timed for us and the drive home to Wales is so much easier.

The Avios upgrade to Club obviously will help - looking forward to our first TATL overnight with flat beds after all these years, even if it is on an inferior product to VS

I hope this is true, as OH hates the extra 30 odd miles to Gatwick and we even flew to LAX in March with Virgin then the drive to Vegas, back via BA. He would rather do that then go to Gatwick! Linda

Yes, unless something changes on Wednesdays outside high summer there’ll only be three LGW flights and on Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays there’ll only be four.

That shiny new Clubhouse suddenly feels a bit redundant. But maybe there’ll be some new additions in due course.

Woa come on its not redundant because one largely once daily flight has moved to LHR. You also forgot GND (served via UVF I know) :-D

Also important to remember that with Vegas switching there will be at least one extra 747 parked at Gatwick or if scheduled to go to manchester another aircraft will be lying around for Gatwick which might allow an uplift in frequency. In any case I think Gatwick still plays a key part in the VS network. Might even alow for a new route I dare say...Costa Rica?

Didn't VS briefly try Costa Rica a few years ago? I seem to remember it was a stop for a double-drop Caribbean flight?

It does beg the question though as to what VS will do with the LAS and CUN slots at LGW though?

Do we know when the official announcement is due? Per the rumour thread from this weekend, today was when the word was coming out (which it has), curious on the public notice though.

That was Puerto Rico, served via Antigua 'catering to the cruise market'.
