I booked to travel to Barbados from Manchester on 9 August with a connecting flight from Aberdeen by Flybe the same day (all through Virgin and one PNR). I should have had a two and a half hour transfer time at Manchester. I received an email from Virgin bringing the Barbados flight departure time forward by around half an hour to c1.30pm which didn't cause a problem. However reading the tripadvisor forum for Barbados there were some posts about flight time changes to Barbados. When I checked my booking I found that the flight was now departing at 11am and there was a message saying one of my flights would be missed on the current booking. I received no email about this, just happened upon it.
I phoned Virgin who confirmed the flight change and rebooked me on a connecting flight from Aberdeen on the 8th August. This means I have to take more time off work but more importantly I have had to pay £130 for a hotel at Manchester Airport. Should Virgin be responsible for any of this cost?
I have a friend who is also flying the same day from Manchester and they have not been alerted to the flight time change by Virgin at all!
