Just received an email offering this

“Plus as a new Reward+ Customer, you can take advantage of our introductory offer. As well as your 15,000 mile welcome bonus (earned when you make your first purchase within 90 days of opening the account), you’ll also get the opportunity to earn an extra 6,000 miles a month in each of the next three months. You just need to spend a minimum of £1,000 each month on your card to qualify**”.

There is a link to follow and it says that the offer is email targeted.

If that was the case wouldn't it make more sense to increase the 15K sign up bonus for new cardholders?

Sorry, yes, it wasn’t clear from the OP that the offer’s for existing cardholders rather than new ones.

In which case I wonder what the cut-off date was.

Yes, reading yesterday’s comments by Rob he says EVERYONE who’s still got the MBNA VS cards and who’s signed up to the new VM cards will get the extra spending bonus offer.

But the emails will be staggered over 2 weeks which is why not everyone’s had one yet.

It’s not clear how they’re deciding who gets the higher offer and who gets the lower one: maybe depends on whether you have the white or Black MBNA card, or the standard or Plus VM card?

It’s not in an actual article. It’s buried in the comments under this article:

https://www.headforpoints.com/2018/06/1 ... rd-closed/

As far as I can work out there are three versions of the offer - all per month for three months:

Spend £1.5k and earn 15,000 miles
Spend £1k and earn 6,000 miles
Spend £500 and earn 2,000 miles

It’s not clear how they’re determining which offer you receive (type of old card? type of new card? average historic spend? credit limit? something else?)

And it’s not clear exactly who’s getting the offer: Rob says it’s going to all MBNA cardholders but someone’s claiming they received the lower offer when signing up for the VM card despite not holding the old cards for years.

I guess things will become clearer as more people get the email over the next fortnight.

No such offer here either so far. I applied for the card in day 1 as well and cancelled my MBNA black VS card the same day (only because the annual fee was due a few days later).

Just got my offer email. 6000 miles a month for £1.5k spend.

I also wonder how they determine the offer. I have the MBNA black card and probably average £2k a month spend, always paid in full. I’m now also FC silver as of last week when my tier points posted, and the email reflects that as it talks about the card perks for FC silver members.

I wasn’t sure whether to bother with the new VM card, but I may do for the extra miles, and then look at an Amex card for their bonus points to convert to miles. I’ll probably also keep the MBNA card to replace our Post Office card for using abroad as it adds 0.5% cashback to the no fx fee.

I've got the Spend £500 and earn 2,000 miles offer with a comment about my White card but nothing related to my Black one, so I'm not sure if I get another for the Black one or not. All my spending goes on the Black card these days so if they've used my White spending that might be why I got the low offer.

Got the 15k offer but not taking it. Virgin Money said no before and I'm not risking them damaging my credit rating - which was perfect - with another search.

BA all the way now.

Still got the white card open (will be keeping the horizon card as better FX option than our current) and already had the initial sign-up bonus miles post to flying club for the free VM card. Offer: 5000 miles x 3 months if spend £500 each month. The first qualifying period is more like 6 weeks 18/6 - 6/8.

Would there be any reason transactions redirected from Curve would not count? Could use the actual VM card for the duration but that would be somewhat a hassle - but we will need to carefully manage spend to get all the bonus so can't afford any "mistakes".

Sorry!

Correction (read the T&Cs with a bit more care) these are just example dates. Its actually from the 18th of June up until the end of the first full statement period after that and then the two following statement periods.

Just read the email again - had two copies 5 days apart and both refer to the Black card we did not renew over a year ago. Bit confusing but they've sent the offer twice so...

I got the 2000 miles for £500 monthly spend. I only had the black MBNA card, not the white one, spent around £1000 a month and always paid off in full. Wonder how they decide who gets what.

Not impressed with the new card so far - terrible trouble logging in every time - and I think the web page looks very amateurish!
