This was my 2nd flight in Virgin Upper and my other halfs first, so I was excited to share the experience with her, however I think ive now created a monster as she no longer wants to turn right when boarding aircraft.

We arrived at T3 approx 3 hours before our flight check in was a breeze and security was a bit of a faff as the normal queues managed to get through before us, 1st world problems I know!

On arrival the lounge was quite busy but we managed to find a seat and made our selves comfy and waited for some service, which wasn't forth coming so my other half went to the bar to order our 1st round of drinks, i went for a breakfast martini, which I first had in the UC lounge a few years ago and she had a bramble.

annoyingly my martini was so strong it was almost un-drinkable, however i soldiered on, her bramble was well mixed though,

We then ordered breakfast, i went for the sausage roll and she had egg, not eggs, benedict, which she said was very nice but a tad small.

After breakfast we had another cocktail, well it would be rude not to, this time we both went for gin fizz's which were both yummy.

Time was slipping by so we ordered our final cocktails, an amaretto sour, which i managed to forget to take a pic of but certainly didnt forget to drink, and these, again ,were yummy!

So on to the flight.

I was aware a couple of weeks in advance that the plane we would be on had changed from a 787 to an A340, scarlet lady, which was a tad annoying as I have never been on a 787 before.

The interior of the UC area was def showing its age a lot of the plastics were dinged up and the padding on the seats had def seen better days. We were also informed on boarding that the Wi-Fi wasn't working, which was a tad frustrating as I had a couple of bits I could have done whilst in the air.

During the flight I managed to blag myself a new set of earings as someone had left them behind the IFE screen

The service onboard was top notch and the food was really good too, which made our flight back in BA business look like it was run by amateurs.

My starter on board was tomato carpaccio, this was the only disappointing part of the meal

Main was lemon and thyme roast chicken with some of the nicest dauphinoise potatoes ive ever had on land or in the air

Image

Dessert i ordered the lemon pudding but ended up with a burnt sugar tart, which was a happy mistake as it was yummy

Image

During the flight I also managed to polish off a couple of appletinis, which were tasty but not very strong and then a few hours in my other half came and perched on my ottoman and we had afternoon tea, which was very nice.

Image

During the flight I noted that the front right loo seemed to be gaining a puddle on the floor which I brought to the attention of cabin crew as each time i visited it seemed to be getting larger and it seemed to be coming directly from the toilet, however no-one seemed that fussed about it.

Overall we had a great flight and our flight back in BA Business from LA highlighted that the two products are poles apart.

Sorry for waffleing and congrats if you got this far!

Think this is posted in the wrong forum but from my pov it is good as I may otherwise have missed it.

Our honeymoon flight in 6 weeks to sfo has just been changed to an a340 as well, think I would have preferred the dreamliner but at least I was quick enough to get 2 seats halfway up row A.

I was on the same plane the following week (13th).
Came back on a 787 (Dream Jeannie) though.
Huge difference between the two. Regret not flying out on the earlier flight on the 13th - but travel would have been an issue.
