Best use of miles to LAX in UC

Hi there,

Frequent visitor, but first time poster to V-flyer! Looking for some advice ahead of flights being released and contacting Flying Club to book. I’m sure they’ll offer the best solution on the day, but was keen to get other people’s thoughts in advance, as fare buckets seem like the dark arts to me!

Milestone birthday next year and both heading to do California via LAX in UC. Have clocked up a companion reward voucher and 140k miles.

Would a Z class ticket, plus 135k reward seat work out best value, or some other permutation such as cashing in companion voucher, or doing two premium upgrades, and/or a miles & money combo?

You could use the companion voucher with an I class ticket that usually works out about £200 more than Z class, but with the advantage of not having to use existing miles.
