There doesn’t seem any obvious logic to who gets which offer and why.

Does it depend on which MBNA card(s) you had? Or which new card(s) you have? Or your spending patterns? Your credit limit? Your Flying Club status? Or totally random?

I’m flummoxed (and still waiting!).

im confused as well, and a bit annoyed i've only been offered the 2000 mile/£500 deal!

Had the black cards for 3 years, and spent a minimum £1500 per month on them (qualified for the companion voucher each year), have also been Flying Club gold for the last 3 years

Would love to know how they determine who gets which deal!

When i received the offer email yesterday i was about to sign up, but might hold off now and see if they come back with a better offer in a few weeks

That could very well be a 'no' then...

I just did another eligibility check on the VM site as when the card launched it said I would be accepted. Now it says I would be rejected. I then went to Experian and checked my credit score which was showing as poor! That was a shock as it’s always been very good and I’ve never had issues with credit.

I’ve now done further digging by getting my full credit report and found that British Gas have me down as having missed four payments and defaulted on £225 that I don’t owe them. We switched supplier a few months ago and the account balance is zero. The £225 is an amount that they had adjusted the electricity account by (a long story I won’t go into, but all accounts were settled), and I will be ringing them tomorrow to raise a complaint so I can get the incorrect information removed from my credit file as they have managed to destroy my credit score. They’ve not contacted us to say we owe anything, nor that we were defaulting on payments we knew nothing about.

A quick Google shows we’re not the only ones and that they seem to have form for this kind of thing. If I hadn’t applied for the VM card I may not have known about this issue for months, by which time I may be having serious issues with gaining any sort of credit and not knowing the reason why. It’s going to be a right pain to sort out, but at least I’ve caught it.

I've just been accepted for the new card and have been offered the £1000 spend per month and 6K miles offer.

I will be cancelling me MBNA black card before the annual fee is due. Do you think I will still get econ to pe upgrade voucher if I do?

A bit more on the bonus offer from Rob at HfP (who clearly knows all the details but isn’t giving much away!). This is what I’ve gleaned over the last few days:

The process of sending out the letters & emails to MBNA cardholders is not automated. It’s being done manually by Flying Club staff in Crawley, hence why it’s taking 2 weeks.

That’s because it’s a targeted offer so people who haven’t been contacted but who’ve still applied by, for instance, following a link that’s been shared online shouldn’t expect to get the bonus.

The people getting the highest offer of 15k miles are, apparently, being ‘specially selected’. On what criteria, we’re still none the wiser.

You’ll only get an offer email or letter if you’re opted in to receive marketing from Flying Club. If you opted out, you’ll get nothing (quite reasonably, as you told them you don’t want to receive their offers).

Some people who cancelled their MBNA cards a couple of months ago have still been sent the offer. But if you cancelled several months ago you shouldn’t expect to be contacted and won’t be eligible.

Can any one confirm if this is actually correct i.e. if apply for the the reward card+ I will get the 3x 6K bonus miles if I make the qualifying spend?

I did previously have the black card but cancelled about 9/10 months ago.

Everyone who’s accepted for the Rewards + Card gets a 15k bonus as long as they spend something on it in the first three months.

But as far as this extra bonus offer is concerned, as I understand it unless you’ve been sent a letter or email about it, you won’t get it as it’s a targeted offer.

I got the email for the higher offer, applied and got another email saying that my application was being considered and I'd here in five days. After five days I'd heard nothing so rang. They said I'd been accepted and yesterday I received the confirmation email which states that the cards will be here in a few days. I have a black VS amex, spend approx £3000 per month and clear the balance. My DH and DS are additional cardholders. We also have the visa cards.

Do the new cards also have a visa alternative card?

Hi all, I've not received this offer and so I am assuming I'm not going to now. I applied for the card 8 weeks ago directly from the flying club site and have put a little spend on it so far. I have held the MBNA card for several years with a fairly high annual spend and was planning to continue my account when it changes to the Horizon card. I have always been opted in to the flying club correspondence.
Just a bit disappointed to have missed out here and still not really sure why!

I have not had any offers about applying for the new credit card let alone the offers associated with it. Is it wort me hanging on for some sort of email to get the new card, or applying now and hoping I get this miles offer?

I've still not had any answer to my application (made 20th June) from VM. British Gas have now sorted out the credit issue and removed all markers from my credit report. I rang VM again at the end of last week and was told it takes 10 working days from the application, despite their email and previous phone call saying 5 days.

Not impressed with the new card so far - terrible trouble logging in every time - and I think the web page looks very amateurish!

Same here, must agree about not being impressed so far. Pain in the butt logging in each time, nowhere on there I can find to send secure message either. My first statement in and paid but no extra bonus of 2000 miles! Paid our £500 deposit for Florida on husbands card to get the 2000 miles bonus - nothing for him either. Eventually found the phone number to ring them on, asked why no bonus for either of us and told the extra bonus does not activate until the 3rd July so if you get a statement dated the 3rd or before, then - no bonus! So for us the first ability to get the bonus is with our 2nd statements - don't remember seeing that mentioned or perhaps I missed it, but not happy about it.

Even if you do find the secure message system, don’t except a response any time soon.

Not impressed with VM’s credit card customer service.

I rang a few weeks ago to cancel my other VM credit card now I have the VS card. After being sat in a call queue for over 15 minutes after finally negotiating their utterly ridiculous call centre menu system, I was assured this had been done. Turns out it hadn’t.

I tried sending a secure message requesting the same thing, that’s has still not been responded to now even after over 2 weeks.

It took yet another phone a few days ago to do something which should be so simple to do and should have been done the first time I requested it.

I fully agree about VM’s online account access being poor at best and there’s still no sign of ApplePay or even an app to access your account.

As I had 2 different cards issued by VM, it requires 2 completely seperate online accounts whereas MBNA did at least show you multiple cards using the same online account as well back when I had the BMI and VS cards both issued by MBNA.

My thought at the moment is not to bother, especially in light of a couple of the posts above about cards not being consolidated online, plus the customer service sounds appalling for this day and age. I will have a look at the Amex Gold I think. I don't need any more hassle in my life and Virgin seems to be going down that rabbit hole in a number of ways at the moment for me.

OK, today at last I received an email from VS, headline stated welcome bonus of 5000 miles plus an extra 2000 miles a month for 3 months subject to £500 a month spend [on VS reward card] , clicking on the link then takes me to a landing page which mentions the VS reward+ card and offers an extra 6000 miles a month subject to £1000 a month spend. --- Looks like I'll be applying tomorrow, then settle down to watch the football --- it's coming home........
