So, er, I've booked it - 24-31st. Economy (delight) with the extra leg room service as er, it was too good to turn down the extra miles in the new economy class . We *may* upgrade with miles, but I doubt it'll be busy on the flights given the rate VS were selling them for...

Wynn/Tropicana (latter on points as Vegas in run up to NYE is expensive!), former on a amazing 129/ni with 2 buffet a day Wynninsider rate - with a guaranteed upgrade to a suite). Apprently Xmas Eve/day/boxing day is a slow day in Vegas, and we gambled enough to get the offer emailed in July on last trip a year ago.

Now that has been booked however, wondering about any suggestions about off beaten track shows/things to do given the pools are dead due to weather.

So far, plan to go shooting one day, see a couple of shows - but any other suggestions?. This will be our 3rd trip as a couple, but I've been 6 times in total so we kind know what we want to do from past trips...
I'm about to push button on a rental car so car will be available, and this will likely be only our 2nd trip with a car so we're thinking of going to Red Rock...

I love Vegas at that time of year and you are correct, Vegas is relatively quiet on Xmas and Boxing Day although don't panic, the quiet doesn't last long as people start arriving for NYE ;-)

I'd recommend the following:
- Neon graveyard
- Mob museum
- Henderson - a short drive from vegas, but there's the Ethel M chocolate factory, xmas cactus garden, lion habitat, bird watching.. fun for everyone if you want to get out of Vegas for a day.
- Pinball hall of fame
- Red Rock Canyon

Hope that helps.

We did 26th-31st last year and yes it gets noticeably busier each day moving towards NYE.

One thing to remember is that from about 2pm NYE they start to close the Strip down to traffic which makes travelling about more difficult as taxis etc cant get easily (or at all) from east-west across the strip.

Don't know what time your flight is but we went to the Crown and Anchor English pub about 2pm to celebrate the NY on UK time (4pm in Vegas). This is half way to the airport anyway and away from the strip so a simple Uber from there.

Thanks Joey, yes, the Pinball hall of fame was on the list as we've not done that before and a car is useful for that - I like pinball so may be a occurrence in future trips..

Henderson we hadn't even heard of so thanks for that, we'll definitely do that.
Neon museum and the Pawn stars shop now on list alongside Red Rock canyon... not done any before and being a quieter time of year may be nicer.
And thanks for the tip on strip closure in afternoon 31st, early trip to airport may be an option as you say - we're at trop for night of the 30th so nearby airport in any case - I'll be trying for a late checkout, but I doubt even as a diamond with 150 nights in hiltons a year that will be granted on 31st.

So far, Le Reve (playing on 25/26th) researched, and looks to be the Xmas day show choice for us..

If you like music, check out Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns. Amazing Band! They play every Monday night 7:30 at the Bootlegger Bistro $10 show ticket. Very good Italian restaurant too. 16 piece band - horns, vocals and a ridiculous rhythm section. These guys are the TOP musicians in Vegas and get together on Mondays only, the of the week they are all busy playing in the big shows, Jersey boys, Lion King, Donnie and Marie, Celine Dion, etc .

First thing that springs to my mind is fooooooood: Uber to/back here: http://www.caposrestaurant.com/ well worth it and something totally different, have a look on youtube for reviews, here is but one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW8E65Z5Ssc

Top Golf is a good laugh I find, located at the MGM so you are just across the road when at the Tropicana.
