Another new route for Manchester for summer 2019

This is probably an impossible question for anyone to answer, but does anyone know roughly when we'll be able to book the new LAX route? Thanks!

Bookings are now open for the first flight. It seems the normal 11 months max before flight date is being applied here.

SFO bookings aren't open, which would add to the rumours that MAN-SFO is being dropped.

All these lovely new routes but no MAN/TPA yes I know I can go via ATL but most of us just like to get down to the gulf coast fast. I really thought we would get maybe only summer time flights to try it out. I don't want to have to go via MCO. No Gatwick is to far away, and will not go with the dark side. We who fly from Manchester and above do not all go to see the mouse, sun sea surf appeal much more.

I don't think we are far off getting one. TPA airport have been quite active in speaking to the airlines the likes of Edelweiss Air, Lufthansa, Iceland Air and Norwegian have all signed up in the past 2 years. It will be interesting to see who seizes the opportunity at TPA. I would like it to be Virgin but have got a feeling it might be Thomas Cook. Thomas Cook have been in a bit of a turf war with Virgin at MAN recently.

With both airlines flying to BOS MCO SFO, When the SEA route was rumoured about 12 months ago I think we all thought Virgin or Delta would be flying it. So fingers crossed for Tampa I just hope it's on Virgin metal.

It'll be interesting to see how VS get on with MAN-BOS and MAN-LAX next year. Thomas Cook have announced their Summer 2019 long-haul flying programme and it appears they are dropping BOS and reducing LAX frequencies from thrice-weekly to twice-weekly.

Could it be a realisation that having two airlines on a seasonal route doesn't work?

This now makes sense to me as I had booked to fly MAN- SFO and the LAX -MAN next May with Thomas Cook as we got a very good price in their premium seats. I thought it was too good to be true and I have now received an E mail to say they had cancelled the LAX-MAN and there was no alternative so I was left with an outbound flight and no return. I have eventually managed to get my money back from Thomas Cook for both flights and have now re booked with Virgin coming back on the new LAX-MAN flight at the end of May. We got a great price for upper class coming back so very happy now. I am sad to see that Virgin have cancelled the MAN-SFO route next year so I hope the LAX route is popular so it continues.
