On the "MY Flights" section of the VS app my flight to Fort Lauderdale in January has a "business trip" banner in blue on it - it's not a business trip; it's a holiday, and I have no idea how or why it has been given this designation. Any ideas?!

I saw this last week on my flight to Tampa from Philadelphia on Delta. My trip was a business trip but I thought it weird it would say that as I didn't know the implications. It also said it couldn't be upgraded when that fare class should have allowed it. I assume there was a correlation.

Thanks. Yes, all a bit weird. Mine is an indirect flight to FLL via Atlanta (outbound) and JFK (return) so maybe it's a Delta thing. Slightly concerned about any implications it may or may not have, but this is an UC ticket so I don't need to worry about upgrades at least.

Nothing showing on my bookings here. I've got 3 bookings all a mixture of VS&DL flights here. 2 are actually to FLL also via ATL and JFK. One was booked via VS in Upper/First and the other booked via DL in Premium/Comfort+ though.

An agency fare ineligible for upgrade perhaps...

A discreet note to their checkin, gate and transfer staff that your fare isn’t eligible for mileage or gate upgrade..

I’m just guessing, I’ve never seen this note on any of my bookings, with any airline.

I had a similar thought to joeyc.

It's also possible the DL booking system simply reads what the TA checked as reason for the trip.

Lots of booking sites (and I should imagine booking system back ends) have a field for trip purpose to help capture analytics & marketing data. Its possible the TA put this down as a business trip, despite never asking you what it was for.
