Given all the aircraft woes at the moment, I would like to speculate - no new route. Citing the following reasons -

- Ongoing issues with 787's, lot's of swapping aircraft on a regular basis.
- A332's will start being re-fitted at some point so cover aircraft will be needed there.
- Not entirely convinced DL connections via ATL would be great for the traditional bucket & spade route model.

I would tend to agree. I would expect the 747 that’s freed up from April to be required to help cover all the extra MCO flights that operate over the summer.

And if they don’t need an extra plane at LGW, MAN, GLA or BFS then I’m sure LHR would welcome one of the LGW 330s.

So, a follow up to the original question. Is Gatwick slot restricted and if they don't use the Vegas slots (boom boom :-D ) for something else, would they lose them ?

The romantic in me would love to see a return of the original NYC service

It would no doubt fill a bucket and spade demand and from a personal standpoint easier to get to than LHR ;-)

And it might force BA to pull it's finger out and put a decent plane on the route (and reduce prices sometimes the LGW-JFK is more expensive than the CWLCY service!) and not cancel it so often.

And if VS timed it right I'd use it (but's I'd prefer LFK over EWR)

But VS may be more concerned with the competition from Norwegian?
