Gatwick tips?

I'm flying UC on the 43 to Las Vegas on Saturday - something I haven't done for a long time - can anyone give me any tips on getting the most from travelling through LGW; check-in, security (is there a private channel?), I believe there's a clubhouse style lounge at LGW?

Similar question for the flight back - which lounge is used for VAA out of LAS these days? Any other useful tips for check-in and security etc at LAS?

This is the lounge used at LAS, it doesn't look amazing to be honest.

I am doing this same trip to Vegas in Jan in Upper too.

Off the top of my head:

• At LGW there is no special wing like there is at LHR. There are UC check-in desks which of course you could use to beat any queues.
• Security-wise, your boarding pass will receive a Premium security sticker, which is akin to fast-track.
• Yes there is a Clubhouse at LGW. See here for menu and spa treatments and so on. It's not as big or grand as LHR but it is a very nice space with plenty of natural light.

For departure from Vegas:

• VS along with other carriers use "The Club at LAS". More details are here. It is convenient as it is often opposite the gates that Virgin use. It is not much to write home about otherwise, but they do have nice soups when I was last there!

Don't forget the twilight check-in option at LGW if you are staying over. You can drop your larger bags off the night before then breeze through security in the morning.

Clubhouse opens at 0630, spa is manned from 0700.

As far as Gatwick in concernedand to add to what Slimpy has already said, my experience of getting through Gatwick has been as smooth as silk.

UC Check In is on the far left hand side (avoid any approach to self check in) and the Premium Security Channel (which is just a small entrance before the main one) is manned as folks can buy access, but the process is efficient and IMHO often better than the LHR Wing during the morning peak.

Once completed, you have no option but to walk through the Duty Free Mile, but once through, head left towards Boots and W H Smith and you will see signs for Lounges.

The Garwick Clubhouse is one floor above and shares the floor with the V Room. Once in the Clubhouse, you will find the staff attentive and although not the "wow" factor of LHR, you will have a pleasurable experience. The spa is limited and does not offer heair cuts. If you want a treatment, so theire first before dinning.

If you have an AMEX Platinum there is a amex centurian lounge at LAS - you have to take the internal train post-security to get there, and back, so allow plenty of time of you do this, but it is superior to the club at LAS which VS use - better food and drink. Be sure to follow the signed route on way back via lift (same lift you took to the train ) back to the secure part of airport VS use - as if you take a mis-turn you'll have to do security again - which did happen to a friend who exited to baggage claim by accident..

Personally I tend to mosy over to the AMEX lounge first, then wander back to the club nearer to boarding time. LAS airport is quite nice with plenty of shopping options in the part of the terminal the AMEX lounge is in - but do allow plenty of time for security even in UC.
