Hi,

Having been lucky already in booking two G class UC seats for May 2019 (total of 190000 miles).

As you do and check the VA website on the odd occasion ( well maybe weekly/daily) I have noticed that more G class have become available for our preferred destination in September 2019.

Current problem is I only have 153000 miles left but the fare requires 210000 miles, my wife has 83000 miles.

I am aware that unless you are a gold member you cannot pool miles. However I recollect from a post on here that if I call FC I can use my wife's miles for one leg of the journey and use mine for the remainder.

Is this correct, or what other options do I have.

yes as long as your wife's miles are enough to cover the cost of an entire sector.

Each of your legs is 52,500.

So from your wife’s account you’d use 52,500 and from yours you’ll need 157,500. It should be quite easy to increase your miles by that small amount. Check out some of threads on here if you’re looking for quick ideas.

Mikethe3rd,

Thanks for this. I am due 5000 miles bonus on my new VA MasterCard this month as part of the new card promotion. Hopefully I can use these before the seats are gone.

If the seats are there and you want to guarantee your trip, you could always buy 5,000 miles for £90. I'm not a huge fan of buying miles, but in this instance, I'd be very tempted.

I totally agree. Reward seats don't usually hang around long. For the sake of £90 I would buy the miles.

If that’s the cheapest option then go for it.

If the VM credit card miles are due within the next 3 days, then ring FC and put the reward seats on hold, they will be happy to do this whilst you wait for the miles to credit.

If they are due to be longer than 3 days, I’d pay the money to transfer from your wife’s account immediately and book the G.s before they disappear.
