Hi
As a newcomer to this site does anyone know whether VS63 will be an A332 on 2nd June 2019. The reason I am asking is the Routesonline website has said VA have filed an S19 in June this year indicating A332s will replace the 747s from 17th June 2019. The VA website is now indicating A332s from May 2019?

Would love to do Havana for the last time with a 747!

Any help much appreciated.

You can do a quick dummy booking to check this :-)

But yes you are correct it seems LGW-HAV on that date is an A330-200.

If you fancy a change of destination they seem to be still using 747s on the LGW/MBJ route next summer.

Yes. It will be an a330. I was on this flight recently and crew told me it's downsizing as they can't fill 747's on the route anymore. It's a shame because the retro of Havana really suits the 747.

But sadly as we move to fuel efficiency the beautiful Queen dies.

Thanks Lauren

What a shame they are pulling the 747 from Havana flights. When ever we have done VS63 it has been around 400 plus pax. Perhaps one day they will fly into Varadero again that would suit an A330?

I presume numbers are down due to prices and holidays to Cuba and Varadero specifically! Other tour operators are certainly cheaper.

Its a mixture of that and low season. Pilot was explaining that 747s are super profitable as long as they are full but when only 1/4 full as they are in low season, they haemorrhage money. I'm guessing they are going with bums on seats with the a330. There's a massive call for Havana and they have the monopoly on it so I imagine it's about making the most money on the route.

747s will be more profitable on the Disney and New York runs I imagine.

I’ve just returned from Cuba and both flights were low loads. Outbound was 140 and inbound just over 200 however it’s low season. Previous trips this time of year the aircraft has been full so last years hurricane may of deterred people from booking in October.

TUI ceased flying into VRA from late October however are still offering packages using alternative airline options for indirect and direct flights. Direct are VS from LGW or TC from MAN

Thanks for posting your recent trip to Cuba. We are going to Cuba at the end of February with Thomas Cook to Holguin never flown with them before PE, so don't know what to expect. Couldn't justify the VS price difference of £2500 to go to Melia Las Americas at the same time.
