I thought everyone might be interested to review the UC menu (December cycle) which launched this week. The menu below is specifically for VS5, 117, 7, 23, 19, 41, 103 & 105

Starters

Balik salmon with curried potato salad
Cauliflower soup with crumbled blue cheese
Orange and butternut salad with black rice & quinoa

Mains

Coffee rubbed fillet steak - dauphinoise potato, buttered carrots, Savoy cabbage & red chimichirri sauce
Herbed roasted chicken breast- cassoulet of chickpea, kale, butternut & mushroom with a creamy mustard sauce
Thai sweet potato stew - ginger brown rice
Vietnamese caramel salmon - bok choy & glass noodles

Pudding

Warm Rhubarb sponge pudding (says with fresh cream but was served with vanilla custard!)
Belgian chocolate torte

Cheese

Cotswold Brie
Rutland red
Cropwell Bishop Stilton

Extra bites -

Classic gourmet beef burger
Smoked haddock with crushed potatoes, poached egg & grain mustard sauce
Antipasti plate with Artichoke, courgette, tzatziki and houmous with pita shards
Afternoon tea with Chicken bacon & cheese tomato & chutney sandwiches.
Carrot cake
Sultana scones with clotted cream & jam

I enjoyed the Cauliflower soup which was thick and warming with lots of blue cheese, and the fillet steak (only 12 were loaded on a full 31 seat UC cabin) so a few were disappointed but it was tasty with a nice tang!

The Rhubarb sponge didn't have very much Rhubarb but was nice all the same. The cheese selection I really enjoyed (double portion of everything offered to those taking part!)

Hope this helps.

Must admit I tend to echo this sentiment. The offering above isn't making me tingle with anticipation. :-(

Couldn't agree more about the soup. I didn't fancy a main on my outbound to NYC last week but had two helpings of soup. Incredibly tasty.
