I'm flying LHR -JFK on a VS Economy Light ticket. The flight is a codeshare (Delta metal). The booking shows up as fare basis T (Basic Economy) in Delta's reservations system.

I'm AU on Virgin. On VS metal, that entitles me to check a bag on an Economy Light fare, and to choose a seat in advance.

Are either of these benefits available when I fly on Delta metal in Basic Economy as an AU? There doesn't seem to be any clear mention of this case on either airline's web site that I can find.

Thanks,
-Brad

I fly delta domestically in US all the time on basic economy.....correct you get checked bag for free (you might get more than one I think it’s 2) and then seat selection, and you will get boarding during their “sky” zone which is now the third boarding group (goes delta one/premier, comfort and then sky) and then domestically you are on the upgrade list to comfort and first, and you may get this on the international leg but not sure; and even then it will probably only be to their comfort, as that’s what they do on their cross country (Sfo to jfk or Boston) It will also entitle you to any delta lounge access if there is no clubhouse (as long as you have international leg to/from uk)

I am a virgin gold and fly all the time domestically in US on delta- so much I managed to renew gold on delta alone last year!

Thanks, beckyboo.

I called Delta to ask, and was told that I get one free checked bag as Virgin AU, but that I am not allowed to choose a seat in advance (despite being Virgin AU). This does surprise me a little, I admit--I'd thought that advance seat selection would likely be a benefit on Delta for those with Virgin AU (as is the case on Virgin in Economy Light).

beckyboo, are you saying that you've actually been allowed to select a seat in advance on an international leg on DL in Basic Economy as Virgin AU?

The DL web site won't let me choose a seat; it shows no seats as available. I'm just trying to figure out if it's that the DL site doesn't recognize my AU status, in which case I can call DL to ask for seat assignment, or whether there is indeed no seat selection benefit for AUs.

Does your reservation when you pull it up in the delta app or website have a red box that reads sky priority.....if so it’s recognized your gold status.

This year they have made changes with seat assignments, as I tried to get a “preferred “ seat for a flight I booked yesterday and am not able to get it without paying.....whereas before that was not the case, so you might be out of luck...but it’s always worth a call and do the “I read online” line and see, sometimes they can be nice. I will say they seem to have scaled back benefits for virgin gold compared to last year......guessing diamonds and platinums were complaining

It looks like delta are doing more for skymiles on virgin flights ......https://www.travelcodex.com/delta-virgi ... -benefits/

Little late to the party but meant to add this for posterity. Like Becky I am FC Gold and based in the States and fly Delta quite a bit. You can get into the Sky Club without a TATL sector depending on the person at the desk. In bigger Delta hubs like ATL and CVG they always ask if I have an international leg (which even then it's supposed to be to or fro the UK) so I'll get turned away. At smaller Delta focused airports like DFW they let me in.

I typically ask (not hard for me to play dumb ...) if VS Gold are allowed into Sky Clubs and the "smaller" ones will allow it. They can certainly say no but if you ask nice that's the worse they can do.

If you're ever close to Gold but need under 200 TPs to push you over then at times you can find I fares (US Domestic first class) for under $500 and with a connection on each leg (4 flights RT) you can get 160 TPs. Far greater return on your money.
