Sitting in a very cramped lounge today as half of the Lounge has been boarded up to allow for the long awaited renovations.

For those of you familiar with the place, the entire section overlooking the Apron is currently closed off reducing the amount of natural light entering the Lounge.

Looks like the Club @MCO might be a better option right now.

We are awaiting our Delta flight to ATL before returning on the VS flight

Weather issues have necessitated a re-routing

After some words with Swansea, we are now travelling back via JFK

For those of a sensitive disposition I will not repeat the response of Mrs Buns when I told her Delta had put her in an economy seat back to Heathrow from Atlanta

Safe flight back buns, hopefully there won’t be any more unforeseen detours.

I take it it’s the kind of language you wouldn’t use when the vicar comes over for tea... Rightly justified if they proposed downgrading you guys from J though.

Weather still really bad over there?

Currently in the Delta Sky Club with buns & Mrs buns. I'll let him fill v-flyers in on how Delta & VS Swansea Call Centre have treated him... but it does look like there may be light at the end of the tunnel for them now.

Oh, how I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during that episode. Red rags and bulls would have been in the ha'penny league compared with Mrs B in full flow!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Latest Update:

The possibility of flying home direct to Gatwick in PE is far more appealing than an overnight stay at JFK and getting home 10pm tomorrow in First and UC/ economy

Crawley Towers be warned

Where and what was the weather problem?
We had a beautiful day yesterday just a few miles over the Georgia border in South Carolina.

Thanks Dicky
I imagine it was the serious weather probles in the NE United States (which we experienced first hand with turbulence when flying over) that caused delays in ATL as planes were held awaiting departuture to NY / Washington / Boston etc.

Latest Update
Apparently bags found at MCO, hoping we might have them later today

Thasnks everyone of your kind comments

I hope VS don’t use the same bag delivery people at LGW as BA.

When they failed to load my bag at AMS last year the next morning it was flown over by EasyJet ( despite BA having flights) then taken to the depot at LHR (despite BA also flying to LHR from AMS) before then being driven back to me in Brighton! The poor driver still had a delivery to make in Hastings!,

Thankfully at least it’s on the way back. I remember the slightly fruitless task of trying to find clothes for #1 daughter in Havana when VS left her bag at LGW. Norwegian managed to lose one of ours on the change of plane in Oslo recently, but we had it back the next day.

Glad to hear you made it back in the end despite the fiasco you had on the day and hopefully you don't have to wait too long for your bags.

Speaking from experience, I definitely agree that being able to fly the same day via a reasonable route would be preferable to an enforced overnight stopover, though sometimes the brown stuff happens. Luckily when easyJet enforced what turned out to be a 24hr delay on me last year they paid out when I put in an EU261 claim - whether I will be able to do so if it happens again in the future post-29th March 2019 remains to be seen!

I think they do >-(

1 piece has arrived at Heathrow and is on way here by road, 1 piece still at Heathrow and 1 piece will arrive at Gatwick shortly - You could not this up!!

Sounds like my parents a few years ago when they picked up a cruise ship from Puerto Rico when AA decided to leave my mum's case (and that of others flying to SJU for the same cruise) at JFK and then having to go round San Juan and the cruise ship buying a few day's worth of clothes as it was 48hrs or so at sea before arriving in Barbados. Luckily they were all found and to be fair to AA they did fly them to Barbados and deliver them to the ship. It did put a dampener on their first few days and even I had to get involved from over 4,000 miles away trying to track them down.

I'd definitely be putting that into the complaint which I trust you'll be firing off to VS? Would be interesting to read their "explanation" for splitting your bags up instead of consolidating them.

It might not necessarily be down to VS but to the baggage handlers who are contracted to re-unite the bags with their owners.
Also, the fact that there were so many shifts in the itinerary may have "confused" the tags. On my first VS flight, way back in the dark ages when technology wasn't as advanced as today, I and Are John had a routing of ORK-DUB-LHR-JNB. I was linking up with my sister in DUB who was joining us. Our ORK-DUB was on a separate ticket and at check-in in Cork, just as the tags were being printed, I rather cheekily asked if our bags could be checked all the way through to JNB. The agent tore up our tags and asked for our tickets and tagged us all the way through to JNB. There was a moment when I realised she had printed the tags to JHB but that was quickly resolved. We were told that we had to recheck ourselves but not our bags in DUB which we duly did, presenting our baggage tags as requested. In LHR we were all on the plane and ready to go when it was announced there was a slight problem and we were delayed. A few minutes later, a member of the ground staff came and asked my sister if she had flown Aer Lingus that day. She indicated that we had and the confusion was that according to the manifest we had five instead of three bags between us. The ground staff took the tickets with the baggage tags on them to sort out the mess which was quickly done and we took off.

We were somewhere over France when we realised our tickets were still in Heathrow!!!

For those who may be remotely interested, my saga is not yet over :-(

One bag remains to be reunited with the Buns Household >-(

Rest assured, I will recount the whole sorry tale, once it has reached a conclusion
