Just a quick hello from the LHR Clubhouse.

Off to Phoenix via ATL today with Delta and giving Delta One a try for the first time.

Never been to Phoenix before. I’m driving up to the Grand Canyon tomorrow, which I have done before but it was about 25 years ago since I was last there! I may stop off at Sedona on the way there or back as well.

Great service in here so far it’s it’s not too busy.

Nice easy journey down from the North on the train via LNER :)

This was one of those el cheapo <£900 return VS/DL Z fares someone posted about on here last year.

I do have some pretty short connections though. 90mins at ATL going out (which with Global Entry I think should be OK), however, coming home next week via JFK, I have just 80mins. I just hope the DL flight from PHX lands in T4 rather than T2 at JFK!!

Bon Voyage James. I did a similar trip a couple of years ago. Phoenix as a city I didn't find very interesting, but if you can I would 100% recommend stopping in Sedona if you can!

Have to echo this, James. Really love Sedona, (visit the Sinagua Plaza if time permits) and the Grand Canyon is one of my favourite places in the US. Enjoy.

Have a great time. We're off to New Orleans next week using tickets bought in the same deal, though our LHR-ATL leg is on VS metal.

Buns is spot on too. You won't go hungry on Delta One.

So....the Delta One flight. VS Upper Class wins hands down IMHO.

The seat is OK, but not particularly easy to get out of or into when it’s in recline mode. Feels a bit claustrophobic as it’s narrower than the Upper Class Suite and isn’t much storage space. No where what so ever for shoes. IFE screen size and quality wins over VS though. Food was OK, actually had better on recent VS flights. Not much cabin ambiance either. Crew where good but not overly keen on conversation. No bar so it’s just you and your seat IFE for the flight.

Zero recognition of my VS Flying Club Gold status.

Whilst I’d fly Delta One again. I actually am in June (over night TATL flight this time), I still would pick VS Upper class over Delta One if there was a choice.

ATL was very efficient this evening. From leaving the DL33 flight to the Delta Sky lounge in the B concourse - 30mins including collecting luggage.

The DL33 landed 45mins early so I had plenty of time to make my connection.

I can also confirm there is now a proper TSA-Pre lane for transfer security :)

Thanks for the mini review James

It goes to show how there can be a marked difference in service on DL and I suspect it is the same issue that VS faces - the quality of the FSM (or Purser on DL) can make or break a flight.

I can see where you are coming from on the seat issue, but when travelling as a couple, there are benefits if in the middle seats.

Hope the rest of the trip went well

For us that’s one of the advantages of the DL offering, though we do miss the opportunity to dine together which (most) VS UC cabins allow.
