Hello all,

I’m looking to book a lounge at T3 for my flight with VS this Thursday. I’m flying PE and I know that clubhouse access is available for £85, subject to how busy it is at the time.

I’ve visited the Clubhouse before and as fabulous as it is I’m not sure I can justify that cost for 3hrs.

This brings me to look at the options of the No1 Lounge and Club Aspire. Both seem available to book for around £25-£28. Does anyone have any experience of which they would rate as the better lounge? I’ve been looking at reviews and it seems a bit of a mixed bag!

Many thanks in advance :-)

I too was unsure in April - http://v-flyer.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=298423&p=949947#p949947

We went with No 1. It’s absolutely fine as a pay lounge - buffet and bar with one small cooked to order item per person, and has windows so you can plane watch. The free fizz was perfectly quaffable at 7.30 am ;-)

If you pre-book through FC (£ 25 pp) you get 350 miles (I have a vague memory it’s per booking not per person so it may be worth booking each guest separately if that’s the case). There are also often discount codes floating round - last year I pre-booked the Heathrow Lounge via the My Gatwick site and got a 25% discount :-D

The post reply icon says it all.

Bite the bullet and head for the Clubhouse, it never disappoints.

The staff, the bar, the delicatessen, the waiter/waitress service for additional à la carte items, the steam showers, the Olaplex and Dr Hauschka spa 'treatments' (trust us, we use these daily), the pool table , the shoe shine, the luggage storage (and the 'hidden' magazines) and (typically) no children.

The choice is singular.

Choose life.
Choose a job.
Choose a career.
Choose a family,
Choose a fucking big television
Choose washing machines, cars,
Compact disc players, and electrical tin openers.
Choose good health, low cholesterol
And dental insurance.
Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments.
Choose a starter home.
Choose your friends.
Choose leisure wear and matching luggage.
Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase
In a range of fucking fabrics.
Choose DIY and wondering who you
Are on a Sunday morning.
Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing
Spirit-crushing ga me shows
Stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth.
Choose rotting away at the end of it all,
Pishing you last in a miserable home
Nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish,
Fucked-up brats
You have spawned to replace yourself.
Choose your future. Choose life.
Choose your future. Choose Virgin Clubhouse*.

Many thanks all, thanks for the link to the other thread too - I’d missed that!

I think it’s going to be No1 then. I’d love to do the clubhouse again but with my commitments on Thursday I may end up only having a couple of hours once I’ve checked in, and I just don’t think £85 is value for money for a short time. I’m sure I’ll regret this at about 6pm on Thursday though!! :-D

Was in PE earlier this year and lounge-hopped in T3 with my Priority Pass.

Between the No. 1 and Aspire lounges, my personal preference would be to the Aspire. The No. 1 is certainly larger, but it still felt cramped with the amount of people and the lack of seating. The menu food items seemed more "specialty" like curry and chili with no meat or pasta choices and the buffet was more focused on desert items. It's also crowed, messy (they don't seem to clean dishes/glasses left by patrons very often) and outlets at the chairs seem non-existent.

The Aspire feels a little more cramped, but at least the buffet items are marginally better and there were outlets at all the chairs. Beware the Aspire lounge is about a five minute further walk to the usual Virgin gates than the No. 1.

Why limit yourself to 3 hrs (I know they have a soft rule re amount of time).

I once “worked” from the clubhouse for several hours before catching my flight. I’ll be quite honest and say “worked” meant replying to a few emails, drinking Redheads, and eating smoked salmon. At no time did I go anywhere near a Production system (work in IT)

Front desk did say “oh you’re early” and explained I had work to do before flying out. They had no issues with me being there all day tbh.
