It's been a while since i've reviewed a lounge, getting cold sweats, so I decided to do a quick sweep of the VS lounge at Las Vegas on my way back from the West Coast today.

Virgin use "The Club at Las", lounge in Mccarren which is located opposite gate E2, at the very end of the concourse. Turn left out of security and walk right to the end. Probably a 5 minute walk if you walk slowly, but not far at all really and once you're there you can settle down. You walk past duty free and the shops on the way, so I suggest picking things up before the lounge as you will not go back that way.

Generally the BA and VS flights use gates E1 &E2, and the lounge is seconds from the boarding area, so no long walks (looking at you HKG!).

I visited this lounge a few years back, on my first ever 747 UC flight actually. It's improved somewhat since then if memory serves. There's now some hot food, which there wasn't before. Still got a good bar, plenty of different seating options and is relatively quiet, although I am fairly early for this evenings flight, so I doubt it has many UC passengers in yet. However, ample space for a full VS and BA flight at the same time.

Seating options are lounge chairs, proper tables & chairs, sofa style seating & high bar seating.

No dedicated wifi, but the standard Mccarren wifi was blistering. Took the top speed spot from my DXB review. Shockingly good for free airport wifi. Well done Mccarren 8-)

Food is all self serve and as American lounges go, it's pretty good to be honest. No clubhouse for sure, but still fine to snack on before a flight.

Today there is pulled pork sliders, schezwan chicken, rice, cold sandwiches, salad, soup, cookies, brownies, peanuts, sweets, crisps, fruit, self serve coffee and some other assorted items.

Bar is not self serve, but staff are friendly and will make you multiple drinks without question. Also more bar style seating if preferred, although proximity to the food and entrance makes it a little noisy.

Staff are friendly and there's some roaming that will clear tables and fetch new drinks for you as well.

The toilets are standard American airport style things. Nothing to shout about. Probably the worst thing about the entire lounge to be honest. There is also a shower, but again, probably not worth using unless you really need it.

Overall, a good experience. Certainly fine for spending an hour or so before your flight home, however not somewhere i'd be willing to spend many hours like the CH.

Like all third party lounges, they actually ask for your Gold card if you aren't in UC. I don't carry mine so had to show them where it says VS Gold on the delta printed boarding pass, which is in pretty minuscule text. But be prepared for a slight challenge, nothing a quick explanation doesn't sort out, but beware.

Now looking forward to the 156 back to London.

CommanderB, out.

We tend to use the Amex Centurion lounge across the other terminal, with maybe a final drink in this one...

I believe they have got really crowded there in recent times though...

A great review - thanks. This just proves that when Virgin fly from a US airport in a different terminal to Delta / there is no Delta Sky Club they can get it right with using 3rd party lounges.

I think I'll use my Lounge Club card that I got with my Amex to use the Club MCO lounge in November. If the Club LAS lounge is anything to go by it'll smash the Sky Club out of the water.

Interestingly at MCO just about all foreign airlines (bar Virgin) send their premium passengers to the Club MCO. They all jumped ship as soon as the Club MCO opened, i.e. as soon as there was competition on the lounge front in Airside 4.

The Club at LAS does get very busy, I used it last year when flying BA and most of First, Club World and WTP were in there

We got there nice and early and grabbed seats in the middle section, Would highly recommend it though

Did they? Or did DL turf them out?

Thanks for the review as we travel to Las Vegas twice a year always use the lounge, It is ok as lounges go and the staff are very good as most of the BA flights we take are late departures back to the UK usually after 9pm there is not much food available, maybe as we are probably on the last departure they do not put out any fresh dishes.

We usually eat in the hotel anyway before we leave so this is not a problem, and coffee and drinks suffice.

We try and only leave a couple of hours in there at the most, although as you say the WIFI is excellent. We had a bit of a struggle last time in March as our flight back was delayed over an hour and it was certainly getting very tedious. Linda

"The Club" brand is typically a sub-par lounge experience in the US (the BOS club is dreadful). It's surprising there isn't a separate "premium" section for premium passengers that some lounges have for their airline clients.

Still, it's good to see the food situation is improving. Overall food has gotten better in US airline clubs in the past couple of years, especially for Delta, and the third party lounges have to step up their game.

Well - I’m at McCarran at the moment and whatever they’ve done to try and improve this lounge just hasn’t worked

Way too bright, clinical, horrible dry food - the VS room was like a doctor’s surgery - good options included pulled pork sliders which tasted like they’d been hanging around since the premiere of “Babe”, dried-up Caprese rolls and sweet and sour something which was stuck to the warmer

An extremely unpleasant experience - I’d never thought that I would ever admit to preferring the old, windowless lounge :-O

Why did you think WTP was there? They don't get access unless they pay for it...
