Hi All,

I found 2 premium economy reward seats for my outbound journey for June next year but there wasn't anything for the return flight on the day I needed.

Thanks to the Reward Flight Finder website, I was alerted to the return being available! However, the outbound is no longer available :(

What are the chances of the outbound flight being available again?

Thanks in advance!

You should be okay. They come and go.

If you're looking for specific dates, you could always book two one ways. I know it costs slightly more in taxes, but it's nothing like the UC one-way charges. PE is currently an extra £80pp-ish to book this way.

Your other option is to wait for the outbound to become available, book that with any old return, then when your inbound is available, swap over onto that flight. This costs £30pp.

Thanks for your help! I didn't realise it could be that easy to change it over.

I'll give the team a call this evening!

I add my vote for booking "as close as you can" to your preferred dates, as sometimes the inbound isn't available yet, and then keep an eye out for the right return to open up. Done this twice in the last three years for our June Miami flights. Well worth the £30 each to end up on right flights. Of course, no guarantee they will ever come up.... Depends on how flexible you can be.

Thanks both!

I called and was able to get the inbound I wanted and the outbound for a week later than I want. I've set my alert back up so will keep an eager eye out on the flight I want. In the event that it doesn't come up, I'll just cancel and do miles plus money. It's really helpful that it is so easy to change!

Thanks again!

Can you not book the outward flights and then add the return when they become available like you can with BA ?

I have been very slowly collecting Virgin miles for an UC reward will probably be in 2021 now as have enough Avios for one more with BA so would be pleased to know if this is possible? Linda

Thanks Mike for the reply, that certainly makes it a lot more difficult to get those reward seats when you want a return and you may not get one of the journeys. Might have to do two one ways as we prefer to travel over a weekend usually on a Sunday when getting to Heathrow is a little easier traffic wise. Linda

And just like that - my seats appeared and I paid £60 to move my outbound flight! Thanks everyone for their help! To be honest, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get reward flights as I'd heard it was quite difficult, so I'm glad I took your advice!

Thank you!
