Waves - it's been a while since my last post (Mr w and I have had a little girl, so my spare time is scarce these days).

I was doing a bit of day dreaming today, and thought that maybe I could put some miles to good use and visit Cuba early next year. A quick search on VS website suggests that direct booking is no longer possible and everything needs to be done via VH.

Does the joint venture has anything to do with this? Is there any way to book with miles? Also, I don't suppose Havana is a great place to visit with a toddler, is it?

Since the systems update a few years ago it has not been possible to book cash fares direct with VS. You could book reward fares from LGW however that stopped a couple of months ago before they announced The Havana route was moving from LGW to LHR from June 8 2020. You can book reward fares from LHR but cash still needs to go via an agent such as VH. You can book fares with Delta so no idea what the issue is with VS.

Nothing wrong with taking a toddler with you and Cubans love children. Just make sure you take everything and anything you might need with you as many, many things are not available to buy in Cuba

Thank you MoJoJo.

I can't seem to see any reward seats in any class on this route (from LHR or LGW) on VS website though. When I go into advanced options, the only miles tickets that come up include routing that has 2 stops...

I checked this morning and could see availability for UC rewards from LHR from 8th June next year, (flights are Saturday Tuesday) you wont find any reward seats before 8th June.

Try using https://rewardflightfinder.com/

Thank you so much. I see them now - didn't go late enough.

Just so I get this right - is there any way of booking reward seats before the flight moves to LHR? I'd probably be looking at Feb/March ideally.

I have been told by VS that no new reward seats can be booked for the LGW-HAV route so no there is no way to book unless you pay. Sorry, that does not help you much! (or me when I was looking to book a flight for Feb as I was unable to use miles)
