I was a Virgin loyalist for the last 20 years. But the seats in UC on these flights are awful. There is a choice of small recline or fully flat. Nothing in between. I don't sleep on planes, so I want to be able to adjust the seat to various positions during the flight. Like your recliner at home, right? Does anyone know if the San Francisco route will get new planes soon? I'd like to book for next May. I'll miss the wonderful Virgin crew and the Clubhouses, but I won't fly on that plane again. I'd very much appreciate any insight that might be available.

Apart from the A350 - not yet in passenger service - and the A332 -the UC seats are essentially the same no matter the aircraft. so pretty hard to avoid.

Are you sure there wasn’t a mechanical problem it’s your seat. IIRC the seat has a pretty deep recline but not to flat. It was an innovation that the flip of th UC seat allowed for different surfaces for sitting and sleeping

I don’t see SFO being at the front of the queue for the A350. At the moment the first batch of planes are allocated to LHR-JFK. I think one of the second batch due next year is allocated to LAX.
