Orlando International closed as of 2am EST this morning - looks like a few Virgin flights cancelled but Virgin seem to be doing a reasonable job with extra accommodation etc.

Stay safe everyone that's stuck out there.

As the flight number VS27P has the P on the end, it's a positioning flight, so empty of passengers. Can only assume they'll park the aircraft in ATL to it can do the short hop to MCO as soon as the airport reopens.

With Irma, MCO was closing at 5:30pm on the Saturday. Virgin turned 3 UK arrivals round fast on the Saturday morning & sent them straight out to Orlando empty. These aircraft then operated the 3 planned departures from MCO, albeit about 3hrs earlier than scheduled to get out by 5:30pm.

MCO say that they are closed until the storm has passed. Current tracking shows the storm going past Daytona early on Wednesday morning - about the same time the morning flights are due to depart the UK. Will be interesting to see if the flights go tomorrow on the assumption that MCO will be open when they get there.
