I've just been checking over a booking and there is an option on the website to bid for upgrade. I'm very happy to do this, as it will mean the whole family can travel together, but I know I won't find out until a couple of days before departure if I'm successful. When I go to do a dummy booking on those dates it says there is no availability. Could someone do a load check on VS15 on the 16th October to see if there is any space? Thank you.

Looking at those numbers off ExpertFlyer, it's called the "Thomas Cook effect", i.e. zero'd out pretty much across the board.

My flight 4 weeks tomorrow to MCO was about 2/3 full before Thomas Cook went under, it's now full in all cabins.

Does the bid to upgrade process have any correlation to actual availability on a flight?

It’s outsourced isn’t it, so I’d assume it’s available for all flights, the company that does it automatically sends the bids to VS and if the flight’s full they’re just ignored.

But if any late cancellations come in it’s an easy way to fill the seats, and if not it still gives VS good data on how much people are prepared to pay to upgrade on any given flight.
