Hi, all. We're flying next week to Singapore and the first portion of our journey is with Lufthansa to Munich (then SQ to SIN). So far there are no more strikes announced, but if they do strike, what is the best contingency plan to have in that scenario? We have travel insurance through OH's Lloyds account, but beyond that we need to be in SIN on the Friday as we attend a wedding on Saturday morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there wont be an issue, but would rather be prepared. As it's a connecting flight, would we be rebooked? We had a friend affected this week who was flying from Croatia to Manchester with LH--they tried to reroute him via Doha! So he bought his own replacement ticket with BA. I'm just trying to figure out all our options so I feel a bit less nervous about it all. Thank you!

First question is this all one ticket or two separate ones?

You say connecting so I'll assume yes in which case LH will rebook you but with no guarentee you'll still get to SIN in time for the wedding

Re Travel insurance best check your policy re the wording re industrial action - official and unofficial. Some of the blogs (e.g. one mile at a time) I've read are saying that LH is treating these as unofficial strike as they don't recognise the union that is on strike (and ironic part of the strike is about getting the union recognised by LH) and they havn't done much pro active planning.

What I would so is look at alternatives to get you to MUN in time for your SQ flight so that could include BA and LH to another german airport then train to MUN or even LX to ZRH / GVA thence to MUN . Though airlines will tend to rebook into their own alliances first before going outside to the like of BA etc

I guess it;s even possible that LH would book you onto SQ out of LHR but that may take some pushing.

Hi Tontybear. Thank you for the response! These are all on one ticket, so I'm guessing that they'll rebook us first. I looked at other options to MUN from MAN, but as we're taking the first LH flight of the day (at 06:25), there aren't any other options from MAN that would get us in in time for the SIN flight (at 12:20). The only workable option nearby seems to be a KLM flight from LBA that would get us in to MUN at 10:55. It is also possible that they would change our itinerary completely, I suppose. I just wanted to have an idea of what to expect, just in case! Thanks for all the suggestions and for replying, it's much appreciated.

Just an update to say that, of course, I was worrying about nothing and all our flights went very smoothly! Thank you again, tontybear :)
